Rangers player can use FIFA loophole to secure new transfer - report
Oscar Cortes may have to find a new destination before Sporting Gijon can cut short his loan spell from Rangers.
The 22-year-old moved to the LaLiga2 outfit in the summer on loan from the Gers, but has struggled for game time in Spain, making just seven appearances this season.
Sporting want to terminate Cortes’ loan move, although the forward seems keen on staying at the Enrique Castro Quini Stadium.
Danny Rohl will surely take charge of recruitment after Kevin Thelwell’s sacking, and it will be interesting to see how the Colombian forward’s future plays out in the winter transfer window.

FIFA exemption to allow Oscar Cortes move to MLS from Rangers
FIFA’s Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players don’t allow a player to play for more than two teams in a season.
However, Cortes could use an exemption under Article 5.3, which effectively allows a player to feature for a third club if the competition schedule doesn’t coincide with the European season and is played on an annual cycle.
As a result, the Colombian ace can stay in Europe in countries like Sweden and Norway, but the American market seems the most attractive for him, according to La Voz de Asturias.
Leagues in Brazil, the USA and Canada, Argentina and Colombia could be the Gers attacker’s potential next destination. https://x.com/RangersReview55/status/1998064510125412448
Cortes was signed for 4.5million at Ibrox in the summer after an obligation to buy in his deal was triggered, but it will be surprising to see the Glaswegian outfit recoup that money.
Danny Rohl set for busy January with four exits guaranteed
Rohl expects signings at Ibrox in January, and Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises have to back him.
While Rangers should look to invest in their team, some of the unwanted players should also be shown the door in Govan.
Rabbi Matondo and Kieran Dowell are clearly out of Rohl’s plans, and they may already be looking for their next club ahead of the winter transfer window.
Clinton Nsiala is also struggling for minutes and could potentially opt for a temporary move away, with Lyall Cameron also seemingly not favoured by the German manager at Ibrox.
