Rangers prepared to spend £3.5m on 21-y/o midfield, told what’s now needed - report

Rangers are still eyeing BK Hacken midfielder Silas Andersen.

Andersen was linked with Rangers earlier in the winter window, with Danny Rohl wanting to reinforce his midfield options.

They have already signed one midfielder in Tochi Chukwuani, and also added Tuur Rommens and Andreas Skov Olsen to bolster their Scottish Premiership title credentials.

The Ibrox side have now learned what it will take to sign the Danish star.

Rangers know what it will take to sign Silas Andersen

If Rangers want to sign Andersen before the deadline, they will need to up their offer before the 2 February deadline.

A report from Tipsbladet on 31 January claims that the Gers were prepared to spend £3.5million on the 21-year-old maestro.

It states that the Swedish club has set an asking price of £6m and have recently rejected a bid from German side FC Koln that was around the same mark as the Gers value him at.

Should Rangers be focused on Andersen?

With a limited time to sort transfers left, the Gers must surely focus on bringing a striker in rather than a midfielder.

If they are to pip Hearts and Celtic to the title at the end of the campaign, they need to secure a regular goalscorer for Rohl.

Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski have both shown glimpses, but they have not been consistent enough to fire the Light Blues to the Championship.

Rangers’ strikers this season.

Danilo looks to be on his way out too, so another body is needed in the striking department before the window slams shut and they cannot make any additions.

If they could get Andersen and a striker done, then by all means go for it, but if there is only time to get one player in, it should be a forward.

That will be the Bears’ kryptonite, in the title race, if they fail to bring in another option to lead the line, to keep their current options on their toes and potentially take the starting spot.

Ryan Naderi and Cameron Archer have been linked, but whether the Govan side can get a deal done remains to be seen.

It should be an interesting few days in G51, and it could be pivotal to their chances of lifting silverware this season.
