Rangers star credits Gers fans for Falkirk turnaround - 'what a game'

Emmanuel Fernandez has credited Rangers fans for keeping the side in the game against Falkirk on Sunday.

Danny Rohl‘s side kept the pressure on Hearts and Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race at the weekend, beating Falkirk 6-3.

However, 26 minutes into the game Rangers found themselves two goals down, after being caught out by a fast start from John McGlynn’s team.

A Tochi Chukwuani goal just before half-time brought Rangers back into the game, and a shrewd tactical switch for the second half to go to a 4-4-2 proved to be a masterstroke from Rohl.

Five goals hit the back of the Falkirk net in the second half, ensuring Rangers completed their comeback in style as we now enter the Scottish Premiership split.

What did Emmanuel Fernandez say about Rangers fans?

Fernandez has been excellent for Rangers in his debut season in Glasgow, and there are legitimate fears that they might lose him this summer as a result.

Some top clubs are understood to be sniffing around his signature, and so the talk of a potential transfer exit has threatened to impact his performances on the pitch.

However, that’s not been the case at all with the 24-year-old centre-back, as he’s continued to be one of Gers’ standout players as we arrive at the business end of the campaign.

The Nigerian international played the full 90 minutes against Falkirk on Sunday, and was part of a considerably improved defensive performance in the second half, aiding the turnaround in attack.

And, taking to his Instagram account after the game, Fernandez wanted to make sure the Rangers fans knew how much of an impact they made on the comeback.

“What a game. Your support kept us in it,” Fernandez wrote.

Rangers fans did brilliantly well to stay with the team at Falkirk

After the start Rangers made against Falkirk on Sunday, it would’ve been easy for the travelling Gers supporters to really start getting on the players’ backs.

However, that didn’t happen, and when Chukwuani’s goal went in just before the break, you could sense that the supporters knew there and then that their side were going to go on and win the game.

The noise levels were excellent throughout, and you could tell that the Gers forwards were relishing attacking towards the fans in that second half.

So, as we head into the final five games, it’s going to be pivotal that Rangers fans keep sticking with their side, even if more tough moments like how they started against Falkirk arrive, as they can drive this team on to the title.
