Rangers take season ticket action as Old Firm troubles hint deals financial impact
Rangers have confirmed that season ticket sales and hospitality renewals for 2026-27 have been delayed, with a strong suggestion that it’s in relation to the Scottish Cup troubles at Ibrox.
Indeed, Sunday 8 March was a day that neither Rangers nor Celtic covered themselves, or Scottish Football as a whole, in glory.
The full-time scenes in particular with both sets of supporters clashing on the Ibrox pitch will live on in the memory for a very long time, and was unanimously condemned by fans and figures in both camps, and the wider football community alike.
However, with Rangers confirming their co-operation in a full and independent review into what happened that day, Danny Rohl’s side have continued in their quest to win the Scottish Premiership by beating St Mirren 1-0 last Sunday.

What have Rangers said about delaying season ticket sales?
So, as Rangers and Celtic await SFA action following their Cup clash, the potential for hefty fines heading the way of both clubs remains a real possibility along with other potential punishments.
However, Gers have now been financially impacted in an unforeseen way, and it’s to do with season tickets and hospitality.
Announced via Rangers’ official X account on Wednesday, the Club have taken the decision to delay the release of season ticket sales and hospitality renewals for the 2026-27 season for the next week or so.
The statement reads: “We can confirm that, following recent events, the club has decided to delay the launch of the 2026/27 Season Ticket and hospitality renewals by around a week.
“This will allow the renewal communication to take place with the focus it deserves. Revised timings will be confirmed shortly.”
Rangers’ choice of wording when saying “following recent events”, strongly suggests that this action has been taken amid the fallout of those aforementioned troubles at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup against Celtic.
Whatever the case may be, Rangers’ planned launch for next season’s season tickets – which is a major event in the calendar for football clubs – has now been significantly impacted.
Rangers decision to delay season tickets is sensible
With the events at Ibrox on 8 March being a Police Scotland matter as well as involving the SFA, this is a very serious matter to get to the bottom of.
There could be a significant number of fans at real risk of receiving banning orders, and Police Scotland confirmed that arrests had already been made.
Rangers may also need to conduct their own review of the seating arrangement inside Ibrox, and whether they might need to make any changes regarding the locations of certain sections such as the Union Bears.
So, there is a lot to sort out in the aftermath of these events, and so pushing back the release of season tickets for next season until the picture is perhaps clearer regarding potential punishments, is a pragmatic one from Rangers.
