Richard Keys was clearly wrong about how long Liam Rosenior would last as Chelsea manager, with his sacking now confirmed at Stamford Bridge.

After leaving Strasbourg for West London, replacing Enzo Maresca in the dugout, the support was completely split. But just three months later, the majority were waiting for him to be fired.

He managed just 11 wins from 23 games in charge, seeing the Blues drop to seventh in the Premier League table, as well as being thrown out of the Champions League by PSG.

Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola is now the frontrunner for the vacant Chelsea job, but with only hours passing since the news in West London, Keys just can’t help but laugh at the situation.

Richard Keys expected Liam Rosenior to last until the summer

The presenter said on multiple occasions that Blueco would be searching for a new manager once the 2025-26 campaign came to an end, but that prediction has gone up in smoke now.

Taking to X (22 April), Keys immediately apologised following the news of Rosenior’s exit at Stamford Bridge, writing: “Apologies. I was wrong about Rosenior.

“I said Chelsea would be looking for a new coach in May when they appointed him. I was a week out,” with shrugging and laughing emojis, enjoying his own previous prediction.

The Blues’ 3-0 defeat to Brighton on Tuesday, 21 April, was the final nail in his coffin, with the Seagulls taking all three points and their sixth-place position in the Premier League table as well.

Frank Lampard could make a dramatic return to Stamford Bridge

Iraola appears to be one of the favourites for the job, with his exit from the Vitality Stadium already confirmed, but he will not be the only name being considered in West London.

Football Insider understands that Coventry City are already making plans for Frank Lampard’s exit, should the Chelsea legend decide to leave for a return to Stamford Bridge.

However, Football Insider has also revealed that Lampard is already planning to use his connections to his former club to sign players ahead of a huge season back in the Premier League.

The Sky Blues have worked incredibly hard to earn promotion from the Championship this term, and the last thing that anyone wants is relegation straight back down.

Lampard has a point to prove, so a return to Chelsea right now appears unlikely.
