Sources: Ex-PL manager favourite to take over at Crystal Palace

Thomas Frank remains the favourite to be the next Crystal Palace manager, sources have told Football Insider.

The 52-year-old has been sounded out by the Eagles to take over ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Frank, who has only recently become a free agent after he was dismissed at Tottenham Hotspur in February after a terrible run of form, has been of strong interest to Palace for many weeks, as first revealed by Football Insider.

Palace are on the hunt for Oliver Glasner’s replacement, with the manager set to depart at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Below, Football Insider explores whether Frank can be a success ahead of a crucial summer at Selhurst Park.

Can Thomas Frank find success at Crystal Palace?

There is no doubt that before his move to Tottenham, Frank was seen as one of the best managers in the Premier League.

His work at Brentford was widely hailed as outstanding, as he transformed a Championship outfit into a mid-table top-flight side on a relatively small budget.

Thomas Frank’s record at Brentford
Games managed 317
Wins 132
Draws 77
Losses 108
Win percentage 41.6%
Honours Championship playoff winners x1, Championship Manager of the Month x2, London Football Awards Manager of the Year x1, DBU Coach of the Year x2
Frank was highly successful at Brentford

During this time, he also developed many players into top stars, including Ivan Toney, Bryan Mbeumo and David Raya.

Therefore, if this ability can be reignited, there is no doubt that he could become a massive asset to Palace next season.

On top of this, despite his failings at Tottenham, Frank continued to get the club to perform in Europe.

Therefore, if Palace qualify for the Europa League via winning the Conference League this season, there is every chance they will do well in the competition in the 2026-27 campaign.

Who else could Crystal Palace appoint?

Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Palace could appoint Sean Dyche in the summer.

The former Nottingham Forest manager would be seen as a safe option by the Eagles, with the 54-year-old yet to have a Premier League relegation on his CV.

Dyche also has experience in Europe and helped ensure Forest’s progression into the Europa League knockout stages before he was dismissed earlier this season.

Nevertheless, the former Everton and Burnley boss could prove to be an underwhelming appointment, especially as his sides are often blasted by supporters for the football on show.

However, it remains to be seen who Palace opt to appoint, with plenty of options on the table ahead of the summer.
