Sources: Lampard's stance on Crystal Palace move revealed as Parish 'explores' deal

Crystal Palace are set to be unsuccessful with any attempts to try and snatch Coventry City manager Frank Lampard this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Eagles’ chairman Steve Parish is a long-term admirer of the 47-year-old’s managerial ability and is keen to “explore” the possibility of bringing him to Selhurst Park at the end of the season.

However, sources say that Lampard wants to remain loyal to Coventry and hopes to lead them into the Premier League, with his team already on the brink of promotion.

The former Chelsea boss has been linked with several Premier League clubs in recent months, but the Sky Blues are understood to be confident that he will still be in the home dugout at the CBS Arena at the start of next term.

Palace are set to make a permanent appointment to replace Oliver Glasner in the summer, but any efforts to try and tempt Lampard to move to South London look set to be in vain.

Thomas Frank favourite for Crystal Palace job

Football Insider revealed last week that Thomas Frank is still the favourite for the Crystal Palace job, despite his recent dismissal by Tottenham.

The Dane has been a clear target for the Selhurst hierarchy ever since he was about to be shown the door on the other side of the capital, and he is right at the forefront of their plans for next season.

That hasn’t stopped Parish and Co. from exploring the other options that could be available to them, but the 52-year-old is in a prime position to take the job at the moment.

Football Insider first revealed Palace’s interest in Frank at the start of February, when sources indicated that he had already been contacted by the Eagles, while still in the job at Spurs.

He is seen as being an appealing target to take Palace to the next level, with his work at Brentford catching the eye due to the similar resources that he had available.

Palace desperate to keep Adam Wharton for new boss

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown recently told Football Insider that Palace are doing “everything in their power” to try and keep Adam Wharton for next season, despite the significant interest in him.

The likes of Manchester United and Liverpool are both eyeing up a move for the impressive deep-lying midfielder, but his current club are adamant that they want him as part of their group next season, regardless of how much money is put on the table.

Wharton has quickly become a key player for them in recent years, and he would be a key part of their plans for next term once the new manager is in place.

Palace have lost both Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi over the course of the last 12 months, and they are certain in their stance that they cannot lose Wharton in close proximity to that duo.
