Spotted: What Gianluigi Donnarumma did to Max Alleyne after Man City nightmare vs Bodo/Glimt

Gianluigi Donnarumma could have easily erupted after Man City conceded two early goals against Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League.

Man City were embarrassed by Man United at Old Trafford on Saturday, 17 January, missing out on the chance to close the gap at the top of the Premier League table after Arsenal faltered.

Mikel Arteta’s side could only draw against Nottingham Forest, and focus was clearly still on the negatives when jetting out to Norway for their Champions League clash on Tuesday, 20 January.

Kasper Waarts Hogh was in dreamland at the Aspmyra Stadion, with Ole Bloomberg bagging both assists, and Pep Guardiola would have been absolutely baffled by his team’s performance on the night.

Guardiola has been tipped to leave Man City already, but the Catalan would have liked how his goalkeeper reacted to Alleyne after the youngster’s error.

Instead of clearing the ball, Alleyne opted to bring the ball down on his chest before being dispossessed, and then was unable to get back quickly enough, being punished for his mistake.

Straight after conceding the second goal, just two minutes after Bodo/Glimt’s opener, the City goalkeeper went over to the 20-year-old centre-back, trying to get his head back in the game.

It had been a nightmare opening 24 minutes, not just for Guardiola’s team, but especially for Alleyne, whose major mistake at the back was punished by a high-flying Bodo/Glimt side.

There was very little that the veteran goalkeeper could do, jumping over the initial shot, with the second one being curled around the experienced shot-stopper.

Max Alleyne could be finished after Bodo/Glimt nightmare

Alleyne has filled in for the injury-hit Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol, and for the most part, he has done really well since returning from his loan at Watford.

However, now that Man City have signed Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, the youngster could quickly find himself on the bench once again, or even being sent back out on loan.

The 25-year-old England international is likely to be thrown straight into the lineup once he gets up to speed, which could affect the currently-sidelined defenders at the Etihad Stadium.

Gvardiol could be pushed to left-back to get him back into the team, but with Nico O’Reilly starring in that position, Guardiola has some difficult decisions to make when everyone is fit.

Unfortunately, that could mean a lack of minutes for Alleyne, or any other academy stars, for that matter.
