Everton hero Tim Cahill paid his first visit to Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday, describing it as an “unforgettable” experience.

The former Toffees forward was treated to a brilliant night on Merseyside too, as David Moyes’ side ran out rampant 3-0 winners over Chelsea.

Cahill joined Everton from Millwall back in the summer of 2004, for a fee that was reported to have set the Toffees back a mere £1.5million.

He would remain with the club for eight years, scoring 56 times in 226 Premier League appearances, and cementing himself as one of Everton’s greatest ever attacking players.

As such, he will no doubt have loved seeing the quality of Everton’s goals against Chelsea, in particular Iliman Ndiaye’s strike, which was one Cahill would’ve been proud of.

What did Tim Cahill say about first Hill Dickinson Stadium visit?

Hill Dickinson Stadium was bouncing against Chelsea, as the Everton faithful roared their team to a massive win over Liam Rosenior’s side in the race for European qualification.

That was, however, just Everton’s sixth win at their new stadium in the league this season, with their 24 away points still contributing more to their tally than the 22 they’ve won at home respectively.

Cahill certainly picked the right game to pay his first visit to Hill Dickinson Stadium then, as he made clear in a post via his Instagram account.

The Australian posted a series of four images from his evening at the match, posing with fellow Everton icons such as Adrian Heath, Peter Reid, Patrick Nevin and even the gaffer himself, Moyes.

“Still taking it all in… my first game at Everton’s new stadium and what a night it turned out to be,” wrote Cahill.

“From the moment I walked in, you could feel something special the noise, the energy, the passion in every corner. Our club isn’t just about football, it’s about people, history, and a deep connection that runs through every supporter.

“To see a 3–0 win over Chelsea in that atmosphere made it even more unforgettable. It was also incredible to see legends like Adrian Heath, Peter Reid, Patrick Nevin and Yakubu a real reminder of the standards, pride, and identity of Everton.

“And a huge mention to the boss David Moyes, along with Alan Irvine and the staff the hard work, commitment, and belief they’re putting into this team is clear to see.

“It’s something I truly admire. Grateful to have experienced it. Proud to be part of it. This is Everton 💙.”

Cahill would’ve loved playing in this Everton team

A scorer of all types of goals, there weren’t many more clinical finishers in the Premier League than Cahill during his Everton heyday.

Operating as an advanced attacking midfielder, whilst also leading the line at times too, he and Moyes were a deadly manager/attacking talisman partnership that the Goodison Park faithful were treated to for many years.

Cahill was a true ‘Barclaysman’ legend, but if he could lace his boots once more and play in this present day Everton team, he would undoubtedly have scored plenty of goals too.

Operating alongside the likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Ndiaye in attack, with James Garner feeding the balls through from central midfield? Now that’s some attack force!
