Tino Livramento: Arsenal to pay full attention after Newcastle star’s two 90%+ stats revealed

Tino Livramento is reportedly a target for Arsenal this summer, and to no surprise, after he starred for England as they drew with Uruguay on Friday night.

Thomas Tuchel’s side were held 1-1 at Wembley Stadium in the friendly, with Ben White’s late goal cancelled out by Federico Valverde’s stoppage-time penalty.

Newcastle United defender Livramento stood out in what was a turgid display by the Three Lions, in a moment that may well intensify the interest surrounding him.

Premier League leaders Arsenal are in the market for a right-back this summer, and have reportedly added the 23-year-old to their shortlist.

Arsenal transfer chiefs undoubtedly would have been watching on Friday, with Livramento giving his World Cup chances a sizable boost.

Tino Livramento impresses vs Uruguay

Football Insider exclusively revealed this month that Newcastle are planning for life without Livramento, after it was revealed that Arsenal are tracking the defender.

The 23-year-old is under contract at St James’ Park until 2028 and would likely command a sizable fee if Friday’s performance is anything to go by.

The defender misplaced just three passes throughout the game, a pass completion rate of 93 per cent.

Furthermore, it was Livramento’s defensive work that would have caught the eyes of scouts watching from the stands.

The Newcastle man made four tackles, three clearances and was not dribbled past a single time throughout the 90 minutes.

He won all but one of his nine duels and was fouled three times, despite not having given away a single free-kick himself.

It was an impressive display from Livramento, and certainly one that would have excited the likes of Arsenal.

Livramento features alongside the man he could replace

White’s return to the England team was a topic of huge discussion surrounding Friday’s game.

The Arsenal defender left the World Cup camp in 2022 after a reported fall-out with coach Steve Holland, and his return has only come about following the exit of Gareth Southgate and his staff.

But many feel as if the 28-year-old should not have been brought back into the fold, and they booed at Wembley as he entered the pitch.

White’s goal and the penalty he later gave away made for an eventful storyline, and there was another in the fact that he lined up alongside Livramento.

The Arsenal man has been linked with a departure this summer, and could well be replaced by the Newcastle full-back.
