Tottenham fans already make their feelings clear on Souza’s future as full stats emerge vs Crystal Palace
Tottenham Hotspur supporters already appear to have decided on Souza’s future following the devastating 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.
Dominic Solanke opened the scoring on Thursday, 5 March, just moments after the Eagles had a goal controversially ruled out, but Micky van de Ven’s red card completely changed the game.
After that moment, Oliver Glasner’s side were completely in charge, with Ismaila Sarr netting twice and Jorgen Strand Larsen grabbing his third goal since signing from Wolves during the winter.
Tottenham’s clash with Crystal Palace ended in upset and anger, but in addition to Archie Gray, there was one bright spark that fans have fallen back on as a source of confidence.

Souza leaves Tottenham fans impressed vs Crystal Palace
The young Brazilian was cautioned after just seven minutes, wiping Daniel Munoz out with a late tackle, which eventually forced him off with an injury. Fans were not disappointed with him, though.
Instead, one supporter insisted that Spurs need to “build the squad around” him, especially if the North London outfit are relegated this season, with many appreciating his determination and passion.
The 19-year-old was substituted after just 43 minutes, likely because of his early yellow card. The match-going Lilywhites, however, are looking forward to seeing a lot more of the talented full-back.
- @NewSpursOrder: “Good morning to João Souza, Archie Gray and Mathys Tel only.”
- @shikaari7866: “Special mention to Archie Gray & Souza gave everything for us tonight. I wouldn’t sell a single player from this squad. Let them all play in the championship. You got us relegated, YOU get us back up.”
- @todareiskaeto: “Feel bad for Souza, he’s been one of our best players so far. Kolo Muani not so much.”
New Spurs signing can build on early stats
It was a difficult night for everyone involved at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, especially Souza, who was replaced by Conor Gallagher before the half-time whistle was even blown.
During his time on the pitch, though, he had 21 touches, created one chance, completed 90 per cent of his passes, attempted two dribbles and entered into a total of five duels [FotMob].
Igor Tudor is already under crushing pressure as Spurs boss, with relegation looming in North London, but the younger members of the squad are leaving everything out on the pitch each game.
There is clearly a reason why the new manager is confident of securing Premier League survival, and if Souza continues to play, he could have a huge impact in the remaining games.
