Tottenham fans want Dele Alli deal done now amid intriguing social media post

Tottenham fans are expressing their desire to see Dele Alli return to North London after it was revealed that he is training individually at Hotspur Way.

The former Spurs midfielder has been without a club after being released by Serie A outfit Como last summer.

His spell in Italy came to an end after he was sent off in his one appearance under Cesc Fabregas, after previous failed spells with Everton and Besiktas.

The 29-year-old left Tottenham for Everton in 2022, and the recent social media post has given Spurs fans the thought of welcoming Alli back with open arms, as the ongoing relegation battle continues at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham fans react to Dele Alli training reveal

The current campaign has been a dismal one for Spurs, with the Lilywhites currently sitting 16th in the Premier League.

With fans desperate for some positivity amid ongoing struggles, the recent Alli reveal has given supporters something to cling to – with some fans wanting to welcome the midfielder back.

Making just 14 appearances across his most recent spells with Besiktas and Como, Alli is far from match fitness, but Spurs fans have been willing their club to bring more depth.

Ongoing injury struggles also continue at Tottenham, with Igor Tudor left with an extremely thin squad as he looks to steer the club away from danger – the argument is there to be made that registering Alli may be a no-brainer.

At 29, Alli should theoretically be in the prime years of his career, but things have just not panned out as hoped for one reason or another.

With the current predicament at Spurs, it is quite easy to see why some would push for a positive homecoming in what has been a season full of negatives.

Dele Alli will always remain one of football’s biggest ‘what ifs’

It is not hyperbole to say that Dele Alli looked destined for the very top in the early years of his Tottenham Hotspur career.

The dynamic midfielder was central to shaping the Spurs side we recognise today, with Mauricio Pochettino building a team that was able to challenge for the Premier League title and become regular contenders in the latter stages of both domestic and European competitions.

With his form declining sharply during Jose Mourinho’s time at the club between 2019 and 2021, Alli would be further out of favour under Antonio Conte following his arrival, prompting his move to Everton.

With unbelievable technical gifts, a tall and strong frame making him reliable in the air, and excellent movement in and around the box, Alli was both a natural goalscorer and creator.

At the age of 29, Alli should still be one of the first names on the Tottenham teamsheet, and the question will always remain as to just what level Spurs could have reached, had the midfielder become the player so many expected.
