Tottenham finalising paperwork for ‘very impressive’ signing as next transfer close

Thomas Frank is finally seeing progress in Tottenham’s transfer window.

Frank is under major pressure at Tottenham, but looks to have the backing of Spurs hierarchy for the time being.

Tottenham take on West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday, in a London derby that could have huge dugout implications on both sides, with Nuno Espirito Santo on the hot seat too.

Frank and Tottenham have been given a major boost ahead of the game too, with Conor Gallagher signing from Atletico Madrid, as the midfielder looks set to make his debut against the Hammers.

Tottenham learn reason for transfer hold up

Spurs chiefs will know that more signings need to be made this month if they are going to get back to European football contention in the second half of the season.

Given that Tottenham haven’t been overly convincing in both attack and defence this term, it’s safe to say that all areas of the pitch will be getting looked at with improvement in mind.

Finding the right balance between signing young players and ones with more experience is crucial too, and one that certainly falls into the former category is Souza.

A 19-year-old left-back, Souza underwent his Tottenham medical on Wednesday ahead of his reported £13million move from Brazilian giants Santos.

However, word on the progression of the deal has gone fairly quiet since then, with Spurs fans beginning to wonder when he will be confirmed as a Tottenham player.

However, in a fresh update from Football.London on Friday, it is reported that Spurs just have the paperwork to complete, which is said to have always expected to take longer than usual due to documents being required from South America.

Tottenham do still need to get a work permit granted for the teenager too, and it’s stated that there is a possibility the transfer won’t be completed until after this weekend.

Souza handed glowing review by South American football expert

There is something uniquely exciting for football fans when their club is set to sign a highly-rated young Brazilian player.

However, not all of them live up to the hype, but speaking via Sky Sports, South American football expert Tim Vickery said he is confident Souza is going to become a top player in the future.

“He is very impressive. He is a 19-year-old left-back, very physically strong. Great footballer and very versatile. He defends well and attacks well,” Vickery said.

“Can go on the outside and can also cut in on the inside. He has had a difficult debut season, playing for Santos in a relegation battle and they only just avoided relegation.

“Santos, on the one hand, you have the tradition of Pele and the greatest club side in the world at one point but on the other side they represent a small city. The fans are so demanding.

“For him to come through, fighting relegation, and doing very well, it speaks volumes. He is already on the radar of Carlo Ancelotti for the Brazil team.”
