Tottenham insider shares lowdown on West Ham protests after what's planned for today

Tottenham fans are set to protest ahead of the vital clash with West Ham on Saturday.

Spurs’ supporters have endured a miserable campaign under Thomas Frank‘s management, with their club sitting 14th in the Premier League.

Tottenham were knocked out of the FA Cup by Aston Villa on Sunday, meaning they have no realistic chance to win a trophy, as they are not expected to compete for the Champions League.

Frank is under significant pressure at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but that may not be the reason for the action planned for the Hammers contest.

Why are Tottenham fans protesting before West Ham game?

Change for Tottenham, a prominent supporter group, has announced that action will be taken ahead of the 17 January clash.

John Wenham, who is familiar with all things to do with the North London club, believes that there is several reasons for the demonstration, not just Frank’s performance as boss.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “Change for Tottenham did a lot of successful protest towards the end of last season towards Daniel Levy.

“There is a frustration, the protests are not directly just towards Thomas Frank, they are about the demise of the club as a whole.

“We have gone from a team consisting of a couple of world class players in Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, who we have not replaced.

“There seems to be a slipping of standards across the board, we have a director of football Fabio Paratici is leaving at the end of this window, Johan Lange the other director of football has been vastly unimpressive.

“We had Vinai Venkatesham come in and take over the day-to-day running, effectively replacing part of Levy’s role, he was very talkative at the beginning, but has now gone very quiet.

“I think there is a general dissatisfaction with how the club is being run, toppled with the prices the club charge, which are the most expensive in Europe for tickets and season tickets.

“To see the club languishing in 14th, people have had enough, and good luck to those who are protesting.”

How can Tottenham fix things with their supporters?

The most simple answer would be to improve results on the pitch, but that would not take away the off-field issues.

The likes of Lange and Venkatesham need to step up and prove their worth to the N17 club, or be replaced by those above them.

Another thing that the club could do is reduce the extortionate ticket prices, why should supporters pay top dollar to watch mediocre football on a weekly basis?

If they do nothing, the situation could get toxic, really quickly.
