Tottenham make Michael Carrick move after Thomas Frank sack latest

Thomas Frank could be sacked this week as Tottenham boss.

Spurs lost 2-1 to West Ham on Saturday, piling even more pressure on the Dane, with full-time boos from supporters saying everything that the Lewis family need to know.

The Lilywhites are 14th in the Premier League, just two points away from Leeds United, who are considered relegation candidates.

Frank is going to be given the match against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday to show signs that he can turn things around, but a loss could spell the end of the former Brentford manager’s time at N17.

It appears that Joe Lewis and other internal figures at the club have already started preparing in the event of Frank‘s dismissal.

Tottenham have already reached out to Michael Carrick as Thomas Frank replacement

Frank’s sack almost seems inevitable, as the suggestions are that if the Lilywhites were to pull the trigger, then the Lewis family would most likely hire a caretaker manager until the end of the season.

This would allow time for Tottenham to conduct a thorough process of hiring a successor, and someone who can deliver on both the short-term and long-term targets.

According to talkSPORT on Tuesday, Spurs made contact with Michael Carrick about the possibility of coming back to Tottenham before he took the job at Manchester United.

The former Middlesbrough boss would have been a contender to become Tottenham’s interim head coach, with speculation gathering around Frank.

Carrick is set to stay at Man United until the end of this campaign, where it’s thought he would then be open to another Premier League gig.

Could Spurs really go for Carrick in the summer?

Carrick is said to have taken the Man United job with full expectation that the Red Devils would appoint someone else in the summer.

The ex-Spurs midfielder has shown signs of his ability to lead for a big club, and if he continues to impress at Man United, he could be a real option for the Lilywhites permanently.

Ryan Mason was recently sacked by West Brom, and there’s a possibility that he, like Carrick, could soon return to a club where he’s previously managed in a caretaker role.

This would then open the door for the Lilywhites to further assess how Carrick develops at Man United, and possibly make a move in the summer.
