Tottenham set for more of the same as Sebastian Kehl linked with top Spurs role
Tottenham Hotspur would be set for more of the same if the information about Sebastian Kehl is correct.
The Telegraph’s Matt Law reports that the former Borussia Dortmund sporting director is being considered for the corresponding position at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, just days after his departure from the Westfalenstadion was announced.
The report also outlines that Roberto De Zerbi would consider the Spurs job if the club are to avoid relegation this term.
Tottenham are in disarray, after years of issues both on and off the pitch have led the Lilywhites to the current disaster, with Igor Tudor’s side hovering above the relegation zone.
Spending almost 25 years as a player, licence department director and sporting director of Borussia Dortmund, Kehl would be someone to get Spurs organised, but fans can’t expect too much ambition if the information were to be true.

Sebastian Kehl era has not gone down well in Dortmund
The double update from Law via The Telegraph on Monday could be massive.
Traditionally, Borussia Dortmund have not been one of Germany’s ‘giants’, so to speak. That title has often sat with the obvious Bayern Munich, alongside the likes of Schalke, Hamburg, Stuttgart and more.
Kehl’s years as a player were some of the golden years in the Ruhrpott, with Die Schwarzgelben winning the Bundesliga in 2002, 2011 and 2012, with the latter years under Jurgen Klopp laying the foundations for what has been the most consistent years in the club’s history.

Kehl would take the reins as sporting director in 2022 following the departure of Michael Zorc, and the years since have been bitterly disappointing.
BVB would let the Bundesliga title slip out of their hands on the final day of the 2022-23 season, before Jude Bellingham moved on, just a year after the departure of Erling Haaland.
Players have moved on and have not been adequately replaced, as such is the model of recruiting to sell that has become commonplace at the club in recent years.
Since then, Dortmund have come close to slipping out of the Champions League twice – only securing qualification on the final day of last term.
And recently, when defender Nico Schlotterbeck set the aims of catching Bayern Munich at the top of the standings, Kehl and other higher-ups at the club were quick to extinguish these ambitions – outlining how Champions League qualification is the main goal for the club, as it has been for multiple years.
Tottenham have seen a lack of ambition before – they can’t have more of the same
For years, Tottenham have been the Premier League’s ‘nearly men’, while the ambition has not matched the sides in and around them.
Years of mismanagement at Tottenham and mentality issues on the pitch have led the club to their current predicament, where they are looking to secure their Premier League safety – a situation that is quite frankly embarrassing for a club of Spurs’ size.

Kehl is a footballing person, and his experience within German football would make him suitable to get the fans on side.
But he has shown a serious weak point when it comes to his own ambitions, or rather lack of.
For a club too often the nearly men in England, someone would be arriving who is the living embodiment of that in Germany, with Dortmund often criticised across the Bundesrepublik for allowing the likes of Stuttgart, Eintracht Frankfurt and more to challenge their position as the challengers to Bayern Munich.
If the news surrounding Kehl and Tottenham were to be true, Spurs fans can’t get their hopes too high, or they risk serious disappointment.
