Transfer: Osimhen’s former club plot move for Club Brugge star Raphael Onyedika

Victor Osimhen and Club Brugge’s Raphael Onyedika were influential for the Super Eagles during the Africa Cup of Nations, helping Nigeria finish third…

German Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg are exploring a late move for Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika as the winter transfer window approaches its final hours, Soccernet.ng reports.

Sky Sport Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg reported via his X (formerly Twitter) platform that the 24-year-old Club Brugge star has emerged as a key target for Wolfsburg, who are seeking midfield reinforcements after a difficult campaign that has left them in the lower half of the Bundesliga table.

Onyedika is under contract with the Belgian champions until 2027, and no formal bid has been submitted yet, but discussions are understood to be at an exploratory stage.

Plettenberg reports that Wolfsburg are actively considering a deal for the Nigeria international before the deadline, with the club keen to add stability to their midfield under manager Daniel Bauer.

Eintracht Frankfurt are also monitoring the situation and have placed Onyedika on their shortlist for a potential summer move.

Since joining Club Brugge from FC Midtjylland in 2022, Onyedika has grown into one of the Jupiler Pro League’s most consistent holding midfielders.

His majestic abilities have made him a regular in domestic competition and a trusted option in Europe, including the UEFA Champions League.

Club Brugge to the Bundesliga?

Wolfsburg’s interest would mark a possible return to familiar territory for Nigerian stars, with the club previously home to Super Eagles icons Victor Osimhen and Obafemi Martins during their European careers.

Onyedika’s performance in Club Brugge, as well as for Nigeria at the international level, has continued to draw attention from clubs across Germany and beyond.

While no figures have been disclosed regarding a transfer fee or personal terms, Club Brugge are believed to value the midfielder highly due to his contract length and importance to the team.
