Two Rangers stars centre of joke as official airport reacts to penalty loss vs Celtic

Reaction from Rangers’ loss on penalties to Celtic in the Scottish Cup has been pouring in, with Dublin Airport joining the action.

It was a disappointing Sunday for the Gers, who utterly dominated their Glasgow rivals at Ibrox. However, Danny Rohl’s side lacked that cutting edge to get a win over the line.

In the end, James Tavernier’s and Djeidi Gassama’s poor spot kicks would send the Bears out of the cup, putting even more pressure on the G51 outfit to bring in the Scottish Premiership title.

At the moment, the Gers find themselves six points behind Hearts in the table.

However, right now those two players are still the centre of attention, with Dublin Airport poking fun at their missed penalties in Rangers’ defeat to Celtic.

What did Dublin Airport say about James Tavernier and Djeidi Gassama?

Dublin Airport has publicly poked fun at Rangers’ woes following their defeat to Celtic in the Scottish Cup.

Both Tavernier and Gassama sent their penalties high, with the official X account of the Irish airport jokingly saying they have landed in Dublin.

Dublin Airport said: “Our FOD team just recovered two ‘RFC’ footballs from beside our north runway – they landed just after 3.30 pm and came in from Glasgow direction.”

Following the loss, manager Rohl is certainly under pressure at Rangers, as the away side should not have even had the chance to take the game to penalties.

The Bears could not capitalise on Celtic’s poor attacking display and several injuries, and questions must be asked of the manager in that regard.

Rangers’ season has quickly began to spiral

Just a few weeks back, Rangers had defeated Hearts at Ibrox, increasing their chances of the league title. Additionally, the Scottish Cup was there to be won.

However, since then, the season has certainly begun going on a downward trajectory.

After going three points behind the Jam Tarts, Rohl now finds his Gers side in third place, stumbling behind the leaders by six points.

Last week’s capitulation against Celtic, followed by being knocked out of the cup by their bitter rivals, will sting for quite some time.

The Govan-based club may end up needing to be perfect from now until the end of the season to bring in title number 56.

At the moment, the mentality to win all their remaining games does not seem to be instilled within the players, with negativity the overriding emotion right now.
