The two sides are set to face off at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on 21 March, both looking to bolster their hopes of European qualification at the end of the season.

The Blues sit ninth in the league, just five points behind their opponents and David Moyes will be desperate to pick up all three points.

Local venue Fliers have poked fun at Chelsea ahead of their visit to Everton.

What jibe was fired at Chelsea before Everton clash?

The recent punishment for Liam Rosenior’s side from the Premier League has caused a lot of tension with Everton fans.

They feel it is unfair how their side was punished with points deductions for financial indiscretions, while the Londoners have essentially been handed a slap on the wrist.

Journalist Simon Johnson shared an image of a brilliant promotion from the indoor golf venue, which had a sign charging Toffees supporters £5.50 for a pint, but for Chelsea fans the price was listed as £10,750,000.

That is because the Stamford Bridge side have been fined that much by the governing body for £47.5m worth of secret agent-related payments between 2011 and 2018.

Everton will prefer bragging rights on the pitch

Ultimately, Moyes and Co will want to have the last laugh on the pitch, rather than with a bit of banter before the contest.

If they can defeat Rosenior’s side, it would be a huge statement in terms of their ambitions to reach Europe next season.

The West London side are contenders for the Champions League, and it would be a big scalp for the Toffees to take, and give them a lot of confidence going forward.

They will want to forget about all the talk of finances and get one over on the SW6 outfit, where it really matters.

Moyes’ team could take a big step towards their dreams if they can overcome the Blues, and it would probably mean more given all the fury over the sanctions that have been announced.

The jibe is brilliant, but it will mean very little if Cole Palmer and his teammates come away from Merseyside with any points.
