View: Everton and Moyes problem area highlighted further by new goals conceded stat
David Moyes has a full-back problem, as statistics show that Everton struggle to deal with danger at their back post.
The Everton manager has shown that he is unhappy with his options in that position through his decision-making this campaign.
There are plenty of natural left and right-backs contracted to the Merseyside outfit, but for many, they have been overlooked by other squad members playing out of position.
That approach intensifies the uncertainty around the Blues’ full-backs, and ahead of Everton’s summer transfer window, it could be a priority now.

How many goals have Everton conceded at the back-post?
According to The Athletic, only two teams in the Premier League are worse at defending their back-post this season than Everton.
In the immediate future, Moyes will need to address the issue if he wants Everton’s European hopes to remain in tact.
The Toffees have let in six goals at the far post, whereas Wolves and West Ham are the two that have conceded more.
However, the reveal does highlight an issue that must be addressed, as the back-post is typically an area where full-backs are expected to defend.
Most recently, Everton conceded through a cross sent to the back post against Arsenal.
Additionally, goals at the back post come from crosses or passes out wide on the other flank, showcasing that there is an issue with the wide defenders there as well.
In truth, it comes as no surprise that Everton have been poor in this area. The Toffees manager has oftentimes used players out of position in those wide areas.
Jake O’Brien, who is a natural centre-back, has been deployed at right-back for much of the season. Meanwhile, midfielder James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam have also seen minutes in that role.
Who could leave in Everton’s full-back shake-up?
Seamus Coleman’s contract is set to expire this summer, so the Everton captain is one of the names that is currently heading for the exit door.
Another player who is in the last few months of his contract is Michael Keane. While not a fullback, it could still affect the future of O’Brien.
The Irishman could be moved inside to his natural role in that case.

Additionally, Nathan Patterson has not been trusted by his fellow Scotsman Moyes, featuring in just six Premier League games.
Adam Aznou has seen the pitch on just one occasion for the Blues this season, and perhaps a loan move away could be better for everyone involved.
Everton have quite a few areas on the pitch they need to find a solution for, and it is clear that full-back must be one of the priorities.
