View: Everton could still bank small win from 61% youth grad amid poor form on loan
Everton may still be able to make a small profit on Elijah Campbell this summer, though his loan move to Port Vale hasn’t gone as planned.
The seasoned youth star was sent out to Port Vale in February, where he has now totalled 15 appearances for the League One side.
It’s the 21-year-old’s third loan spell in the senior game, but he’s yet to make an impression anywhere but Finch Farm.
The centre-back’s move to Ross County last campaign gave the Toffees confidence that he could kick on this term with a new club, but that’s not been the case.
Everton could still make a small profit on Campbell this summer, should they wish to cash in on the youngster.

How Everton can make Elijah Campbell profit
Campbell has been unimpressive in performances with Port Vale so far, and a breakthrough into Everton’s first team looks highly unlikely.
The defender joined the Blues for free in 2020, racking up over 100 appearances in the youth ranks before making his debut in the FA Cup loss to Sunderland earlier this season.
Area of game Stats Games (starts) 11 (9) Goals conceded while on pitch 1.59 Defensive contributions per 90 11.1 Duels won percentage 61% FotMob rating 6.89
As seen in the table above, Port Vale conceded more than 1.5 goals per match when Campbell is on the field. The defender makes 11.1 defensive contributions per match, while winning 61 per cent of his duels.
He has an average 6.89 FotMob score, which isn’t exactly bad, but nor is it something that is going to catch David Moyes‘ eye.
The former Fleetwood Town loanee also has just a 70 per cent pass accuracy and averages a clean sheet roughly once in every three matches.
What is Campbell’s current value?
Elijah is under contract with the Toffees for one more campaign after this season, with his deal at Hill Dickson expiring in the summer of 2027.
That means this summer could be the perfect opportunity for the Blues to cash in on the centre-half, who could leave Finch Farm for free 12 months later.
According to Transfermarkt, Campbell’s value is an estimated £175,000, which could even be more, but also less, with chances for a seven-figure sale very unlikely.
Either way, Everton can still gain a pure profit bonus on the books through any type of sale that includes a fee, as he joined the club for free in 2020.
It would be slightly frustrating to see the Toffees wait it out with Campbell for another season, because his form suggests that things won’t improve to the point where he is handed new terms.
