View: Everton have double transfer answer after Amorim sack at Manchester United

Everton’s transfer business this month may well be intrinsically linked to Manchester United.

United sacked Ruben Amorim on 5 January after 14 months in charge, with disagreements over the transfer window being one of the reasons.

That decision could affect what happens with David Moyes‘ side’s plans in the market, in terms of both incomings and outgoings.

Everton are expected to be quiet in the winter window, but it is understood that they will be looking for value if it is available.

Why Everton transfers will be affected by Amorim sacking

United were linked with Everton midfielder James Garner, while the Blues reportedly wanted to sign Kobbie Mainoo on loan.

It seems like neither deal will happen now, with a new manager set to take the reins at Old Trafford, whether that be in the summer or the immediate future.

The new boss will likely want to sign his own targets, and will also probably want to take a look at what Mainoo offers, so Moyes’ side have a double transfer answer.

Everton have dodged a bullet with Amorim’s exit – here’s why

Garner is one of the Toffees’ best players, if the Red Devils had have ultimately gone the other way and backed their manager, he might not have been on Merseyside much longer.

Now the L4 outfit can focus on tying down the former Nottingham Forest midfielder to a new contract, beyond his current deal, which had an option to extend anyway.

With Amorim out of the picture, the new man in charge at United will likely want to put his own impression on the team, and may not look to bring Garner back to Manchester.

That will be a relief to the Blues, as they should be building a team with players who are the same quality as the 24-year-old.

Mainoo could eventually be that, but right now, he is not, and it is not much of a blow to miss out on a loan deal for the youngster.
