Everton summer transfer target Balazs Toth may be sold by Blackburn Rovers over the coming months.

The Toffees were credited with an interest in the goalkeeper earlier this week, although a number of other teams are also said to be lurking.

Toth has played close to 50 matches for Blackburn since joining from Hungarian side Fehervar in August 2024.

He has also been capped five times by Hungary at international level, with his growing reputation seeing him catch the eyes of numerous clubs.

Everton are among those interested in a deal and they may now get the opportunity to pounce.

Blackburn prepared to sell Balazs Toth this summer

Jordan Pickford is the undisputed Everton number one right now, but he will not be around forever.

Everton may well be looking for a new second-choice keeper who has the potential to usurp Pickford down the line.

Toth was recently crowned Blackburn’s Players’ Player of the Year for the 2025-26 season, despite missing a chunk of the season with a knee injury.

Amid the recent talk from Hungary of Everton being one of the clubs showing a serious interest in the 28-year-old, Alan Nixon has now provided a further update via his Patreon.

While Everton are not specifically named in this latest update, it is reported that Blackburn will look to sell Toth if new terms cannot be agreed.

The 6ft 2in stopper has a little over 12 months to run on his existing deal, meaning he would become a free agent next summer.

While Rovers’ offer will provide Toth with a nice pay rise, it is suggested that an “auction” could open up if he does not put pen to paper soon.

If that is the case, and Everton are indeed interested, they need to ensure they are at the front of the queue for his signature.

How does Toth compare to other Championship goalkeepers?

Toth has a 70.5 per cent save rate in the Championship, which is often a good barometer of how good a goalkeeper is at the most basic form of goalkeeping – keeping out shots.

That is the joint-11th best in the English second tier, with Southampton’s Daniel Peretz top of the list with 77.3 per cent.

For context, Pickford has a 70.3 per cent save percentage in the Premier League – so pretty much identical to Toth, albeit at a higher level.

Toth kept a clean sheet in 26.5 per cent of matches played in 2025-26, meanwhile, which is again the 11th best in the division.

While it may not be a name that gets supporters too excited, the Hungary international clearly has something about him and would be an upgrade as Pickford’s deputy for now.
