David Moyes has confirmed that Jack Grealish is likely to miss the rest of the season.

Everton‘s winter transfer window continues to go from bad to worse, with Moyes still yet to welcome any new signings to Hill Dickinson Stadium.

That’s not been through a lack of trying, with Moyes known to be seeking reinforcements across the pitch as he looks to deliver Everton a top half finish in the Premier League for the first time since 2021.

However, with Harrison Armstrong‘s Preston recall and the permanent exit of young goalkeeper Harry Tyrer to Cardiff being the only two pieces of business so far this winter, frustrations are building.

Jack Grealish blow must force Everton into Harry Wilson action

If frustration wasn’t already high enough around L3, then they’ll be at fever pitch now.

That’s because Moyes has confirmed that Grealish’s season is likely over, with the winger needing surgery to help repair his broken foot.

Grealish has reignited his previously stagnating career with Everton this season, having become a rotational player at Man City under Pep Guardiola.

The 39-cap England international’s impact in Moyes’ squad has been phenomenal, as he’s contributed two goals and six assists in 20 Premier League games, and has looked like the best version of himself again.

With his season now over, Moyes’ wide options are now stretched thin, with Tyler Dibling still developing, Dwight McNeil having a poor season, leaving most of the creative responsibility to Iliman Ndiaye.

As such, the Friedkin Group must now spring into transfer action to ensure they don’t leave Moyes short, and they should now hone in on Fulham’s wantaway star, Harry Wilson.

Wilson has been linked with Everton this winter, with the 28-year-old winger out of contract with the Cottagers in the summer, and it’s understood he has no intention of signing a new deal with them.

Therefore, this is now a perfect, albeit under unwanted circumstances, opportunity to push the boat out and go and rescue Craven Cottage’s Rapunzel.

He’s quite clearly putting himself in the shop window too, as the Welsh international has scored eight goals and provided four assists in 22 Premier League appearances this season.

Wilson could be available for a bargain fee before Monday’s deadline too, as Fulham aren’t really in a position to demand a sizeable fee for him given he’s heading for the free agent market anyway.

Everton now can’t afford to let Wilson hit open market

With Grealish’s injury now confirmed to be as serious as it is, Everton shouldn’t wait to see if their sales pitch is the most convincing for Wilson in the summer.

Given how well he’s playing for Fulham this season, a myriad of clubs are sure to present highly lucrative financial packages to him if he hits the free agent market at the end of the season.

Everton can’t let that happen, as Wilson is now needed at the Hill Dickinson Stadium immediately, and is a player that could help transform the Toffees’ attack over the next few years.

It may also do a lot to persuade Ndiaye to stay with Everton too, as those two could form a deadly partnership down the flanks.

So, Everton must now channel this Grealish disappointment, and use it to go and make sure they get Wilson before anyone else can potentially steal him away from them in the summer.
