View: Everton surely under pressure to sign Grealish stopgap as TFG miss out on target
Jack Grealish’s injury could be the biggest blow to Everton’s season.
David Moyes‘ hopes for European football have been hampered by his star man’s injury setback.
Grealish has been ruled out for up to three months with a broken foot, and the Toffees are actively seeking solutions.
Dwight McNeil has been tipped for an Everton exit, but he played in the Blues’ 1-1 draw with Leeds on Monday night.
However, if Moyes is left with McNeil as the only option to fill in for Grealish, then the Toffees may be in deep trouble.
But the Friedkin Group may be failing in their plans to provide Moyes with adequate backup.

Everton’s move for Wesley Gassova hijacked
There have been talks of Everton signing Grealish on a permanent deal from Manchester City, but Moyes has admitted that the winger’s £50million buy clause is simply too much for the Blues to pay.
The Englishman had hopes of breaking into Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the World Cup in the summer, and his motivation to do so has been seen in his performances for the Toffees.

Everton were in pole position to sign Wesley Gassova from Al Nassr, a wide forward who could have been the answer to Moyes’ problem.
However, as reported by Fabrizio Romano on Thursday, Real Sociedad are closing in on their attempts to sign the Brazilian wonderkid, with the deal at its “final stages”.
It adds to another episode of the Friedkin Group’s growing series of errors this month, as just days remain in the winter market.
Who could Everton sign after missing out on Gassova
The only silver lining is that Gassova is unproven at a high level and has only ever played in Brazil and Saudi Arabia, meaning he was never guaranteed to be a success at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton have been heavily linked with Harry Wilson, and could yet decide to make an ambitious move for the Fulham star instead.

It would take a lot for the Toffees to sign the Welshman so late into the window, but Wilson’s potential arrival could shift Iliman Ndiaye back out to the left flank.
But time is ticking, and the Friedkin Group need to do what they can to sign Grealish’s replacement, whether that’s Wilson or someone else.
