View: Everton's potential permanent move for 30-y/o forward seems too inevitable not to happen

Jack Grealish to Everton on a permanent transfer could happen this summer, but nothing is confirmed yet.

The winger has spent the entire season on loan from Manchester City with the Toffees, who have a £50million buy option in his contract.

David Moyes has already said that Everton will not exercise the buy option for Grealish, due to the fee being too high, something which Man City are said to be okay with.

Talks have been ongoing for the 30-year-old forward to remain at Hill Dickinson beyond this season, though wages could be a big stumbling block.

Grealish would not be short of offers from other clubs, should a move to Everton break down, but that feels unlikely at this stage.

Jack Grealish is an adopted Evertonian

Everton have confidence that they will sign Grealish again this summer, whether that be another loan or a permanent deal.

The winger seems to have taken life to Merseyside like a true Evertonian, and has full supports and trust from the fanbase.

Grealish in PL

The Englishman has been seen helping out with the local community, while also dropping subtle hints on social media that he is indeed an adopted Toffee.

Grealish has shown too much passion from the sidelines while injured to just call it a day with the Blues, and it would be no surprise to see him turn his stay permanent.

Even if Everton miss out on qualifying for Europe, that wasn’t needed to draw the attacker to Hill Dickinson in the first place.

If anything, it’s added determination to come back and settle unfinished business, with a transfer seeming too obvious not to happen at this point.

What could a compromise between Everton and Manchester City look like?

The Toffees are said to be willing to pay £20m for Grealish, but at this stage, it’s unclear as to whether that’s something Man City would accept.

Pep Guardiola’s side needs to factor in Grealish’s injury and age, as well as the player’s needs. This might be the window where Man City can bank the most from their former £100m purchase, so a compromise would be needed.

Everton would most likely be more than happy to pay that value, but then Grealish’s wage is the next question.

From Grealish’s perspective, he probably sees Everton as his best chance to get back in the England squad, and he’d be foolish to demand a salary that the Friedkin Group cannot match.
