View: Moyes may have new transfer headache as Igor Thiago destroys Everton vs Brentford
Igor Thiago bagged a hat-trick as Brentford beat Everton 4-2 in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Hill Dickinson Stadium hosted Keith Andrews’ team on 4 January, as the Toffees suffered their third defeat in their last five matches.
While David Moyes has to take the blame for some of his decisions against Brentford, the players on the pitch didn’t live up to standards on the evening.
With fans in L4 witnessing a second-half collapse in which the Bees scored three goals, the Scottish manager will surely be looking to the ownership for some help in the winter transfer window.
Michael Keane concern emerges after display in Everton loss vs Brentford
Michael Keane has been an unsung hero for Moyes this season, putting in some consistently good performances.
However, it looks like the defender’s upturn in form at the Hill Dickinson Stadium may have come to an end: he won just one of his five ground duels and five of his seven aerial duels, committed one foul, and was dribbled past twice, according to Sofascore.
The English centre-back completed 30 of his 37 passes, with just a 69 per cent passing accuracy in the opposition half.
In the 90 minutes, the 32-year-old played for the Blues against Brentford, he lost possession nine times and failed in his one dribble attempt.
Keane, Jake O’Brien and Vitalii Mykolenko were arguably the three worst players on the pitch, which will undoubtedly give Moyes a new transfer headache in L4.
David Moyes has silver lining after loss at Hill Dickinson Stadium
Beto and Thierno Barry have been a concern for Moyes this season, with the Toffees one of the lowest goalscorers in the Premier League.
Everton were underwhelming against Brentford, but Moyes should take consolation from the fact that his two centre-forwards found the back of the net.
Player Appearances Goals Assists Barry 20 3 0 Beto 20 2 0
It goes to show that Barry and Beto can play together in the starting lineup, and it may be time for the Scottish manager to place trust in their partnership.
The Merseyside outfit host Wolves next in the Premier League on 7 January at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and can’t afford to lose points against the side at the bottom of the table.
