Everton have had frustrations with Nathan Patterson, but it seems like David Moyes may be the one who has the most issues with the right-back.

Patterson is seemingly back to full fitness, amid performances for Scotland during the international break, but cannot get a look in for the Toffees.

The Scot has featured in many of Everton’s recent matchday squads, though he still doesn’t make an appearance off the bench most times.

Moyes was interested in signing a new right-back in the winter window, and has even played Jake O’Brien in the position for most of this campaign.

Patterson has played well for Everton in the limited opportunities that he has had, which suggests that Moyes has already made up his mind.

There’s a high possibility that Patterson will leave Everton at the end of this season, as it’ll be the final chance for the Blues to get a fee for the defender, with his deal expiring in 2027.

The 24-year-old has had his fitness struggles, which is probably the main reason for a lack of trust Moyes has in him.

The full-back has played just six times in the Premier League this season, with half of them appearances actually being starts.

He has a 60.6 per cent duel win rate from those games, and an even better 77 per cent aerial duel success.

The former Rangers star also averages 11.3 defensive actions per 90 minutes with a high total of 10 tackles, considering the small sample size of games.

Perhaps the most impressive stat is that Moyes’ side has only conceded one goal in the league while he’s been on the pitch, which is quite something.

As seen in the image above provided by Sofascore, Patterson has an average rating of 6.88 this season, which makes you wonder if Moyes does have a problem with him.

Everton are still going to be after a new right-back in the summer transfer window, and Patterson’s expected departure could help Moyes land his top targets.

Sevilla have been credited with interest in Patterson, as Everton would also like to sign Juanlu Sanchez from the La Liga side.

A possible swap deal could be on the cards this summer, but a lack of English interest suggests he could be set for a new European journey, whether that be Sevilla, or another club.

Regardless, the findings show that if Patterson can stay fit, a side could get a good cut-price deal, with his career far from its peak.
