View: Nowhere to run for Tudor as Tottenham hit three-decade low

Tottenham have set all kinds of unwanted records after their disastrous defeat to Crystal Palace.

After disappointing losses to Fulham and Arsenal in Igor Tudor‘s first two games in charge of Tottenham, hope appeared to be kindled when they took the lead against Palace on Thursday.

Dominic Solanke’s 34th-minute opener lifted the mood around Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, only for Micky van de Ven‘s foolish red card to stun the place into disbelief.

The Dutchman conceded a penalty, which Ismaila Sarr duly converted in the 40th minute, before Jorgen Strand Larsen made it 2-1 shortly after.

The boos rang round the ground when Sarr added a second in the seventh minute of first-half stoppage time and Tottenham could not recover in a 3-1 reverse as the threat of relegation loomed large for the Europa League champions.

Tottenham rivalling Wolves as season spirals out of control

According to Opta Joe, only Premier League basement side Wolves (20) have lost more home league games than Tottenham (19) since the start of last season, while Spurs have the fewest home points (31) of any ever-present side since the start of 2024-25.

Moreover, Tottenham have failed to win 11 successive league games for the first time since October 1975, while it’s also the first time they have lost five consecutive Premier League matches since November 2004 – when they lost six on the spin.

And you would have to go back to 1935 when Tottenham endured a longer winless run in the league to begin a calendar year. Despite Tottenham fans leaving the ground before half-time, Tudor is trying to stay upbeat.

He told BBC Sport: “We are disappointed we lost. The red card changed the game. Then we conceded two or three fast goals. In the second half we tried. We wanted some good energy, I saw something to make me believe we can do it and I am sure we will do.

“The game plan was to believe when we are attacking that we are going to score a goal, otherwise you cannot stay defending with one player [less] and unfortunately it was not enough.

“After this game I believe more than before. I know it is not easy. It is a moment but it will pass. It will pass. The message I said to them [the players] is not [for the] public.”

Tudor was brought in as a firefighter last month after the sacking of Thomas Frank. But for the time being, it just looks like he is fanning the flames of Spurs’ demise.

Pedro Porro’s reaction sums up all that is wrong at Tottenham

Heading into the Palace encounter, Tottenham right-back Pedro Porro conducted an interview where he spoke of Spurs’ season being a “disaster”.

He also repeated that he would love to play for Real Madrid one day. And going by his reaction at being substituted in the second half by Tudor, the right-back won’t be round at Spurs for that much longer.

Porro was spotted arguing with the interim manager after being hooked in yet another damning sign that things are going horribly wrong at Tottenham.

In his 74 minutes on the field, the defender lost possession 17 times and won only half of his duels, earning himself a Sofascore rating of 6.1.

The result leaves Tottenham just one point above the relegation zone in 16th with nine games to go.

Next up, Spurs are back in Champions League action, something not many relegation-threatened teams can say.

They have a last-16 double-header against Atletico Madrid on 10 and 18 March, with a Premier League game away at Liverpool sandwiched in between on 15 March.

Van de Ven will be suspended for the Reds game but Tottenham will have captain Cristian Romero back for that clash after serving his four-match ban. Things look very bleak for Spurs right now.
