View: Rangers fans to party into night as BBC reporter relays 'toxic' scenes from Celtic
Wilfried Nancy may have just taken charge of his final Celtic game.
Rangers secured a huge 3-1 victory away to Celtic on Saturday, reducing the gap from Hearts to just three points, albeit having now played one more game.
Youssef Chermiti scored two, with Tottenham loanee Mikey Moore also getting on the scoresheet for the Light Blues on a day that won’t be forgotten.
That goes for both sets of supporters, albeit for very different reasons.
Celtic could be set to sack Wilfried Nancy
When Nancy was appointed as Celtic boss, the Bhoys were on an upwards trajector while the Light Blues were still finding their feet under Danny Rohl.
After Saturday’s Old Firm victory, the two sides are now level on points, with Celtic only going downhill under the French manager.
Their lack of form has already led to unrest from the home support, and that reached a whole new level not long after Moore scored Rangers‘ third of the afternoon.
The atmosphere at Parkhead turned very quickly, with boos ringing around the stadium, many of which were aimed not just at Nancy but also at the board.
Via BBC Radio Scotland, Martin Dowden said: “For Celtic, this has just gone full-scale toxic. The board are getting it in the neck from supporters. Many are streaming out of the stadium.
“There’s a police presence now near the dugout, where Wilfried Nancy stands in utter disbelief.
“Celtic are in crisis, with Rangers fully seizing on their chance.“
Light Blue supporters will celebrate the victory, as well as the continued downfall of their fiercest rivals.
Rangers may be set to reverse Youssef Chermiti decision
Towards the end of 2025, it was believed that Rangers were open to the exit of Chermiti, just months after he made the multi-million-pound move to Ibrox.
His form warranted that, and there looked as though there was no way back for him at Rangers – he’d managed just two goals all season.
However, after doubling his goal tally and putting in a solid performance against Celtic, that stance may have just changed.
Chermiti battled all afternoon, and while his goals weren’t the prettiest, they were needed to secure a huge three points for the Gers.
Nancy’s future at Celtic may be sealed after the defeat, and the same may be said for Chermiti at Rangers, albeit for very different reasons.
