View: Rangers get lucky omen for Motherwell match as SFA announcement made
Rangers may have just got a lucky omen ahead of next weekend’s clash with Motherwell as Kevin Clancy has been named referee.
The Gers return to action after two weeks off aiming to get their run-in off to a winning start at home to Motherwell on Sunday.
Danny Rohl‘s side battled back from two goals down to beat Falkirk 6-3 in their most recent outing, before heading abroad for a warm-weather training camp.
Only victory will do when the Gers welcome Motherwell to Ibrox, with that the first of five remaining fixtures post-split.
Ahead of Rangers’ showdown with Motherwell, Clancy has been named as the man in the middle.

What is Rangers’ record with Kevin Clancy as referee?
The SFA announced the referees for the next set of Scottish Premiership fixtures on Tuesday afternoon.
This will be the fourth Rangers game Clancy has refereed, with the Gers winning each of the previous three.
Opponent Month Result Kilmarnock (h) September 3-1 W Kilmarnock (a) December 3-0 W Dundee (h) January 3-0 W
Rangers beat Kilmarnock 3-1 at home in September, then the same opponents 3-0 away in December, before a win by the same scoreline over Dundee in January with Clancy in charge.
Clancy’s appointment could therefore be considered a positive omen, but more important is what Rohl’s players do on the pitch.

It goes without saying that a win is the only thing that will do for Rangers this weekend, with every last point – and indeed goal – now very much counting.
How does Rangers’ disciplinary record compare to rivals?
Rangers have been handed 65 yellow cards this season and one red card, which is the fifth-best disciplinary record in the division.
Celtic are one the sides with a better record, with 58 yellows and two reds, while Hearts have had 58 yellows and five reds.
Incidentally, Motherwell are the side with the best-such record in the Scottish Premiership, having seen only 47 yellows handed out plus a couple of red cards.
Of more concern to Rohl will be the quality Motherwell have to call upon in their squad, albeit they are not better than Rangers – not even close.
It is just a case of getting the job done this weekend and then moving on to those truly massive back-to-back games against Hearts and Celtic.
