View: Recent Rangers signing more than deserves starting spot after Dundee United display

Rangers forward Ryan Naderi has earned his spot after an immense display against Dundee United.

The forward joined from German side Hansa Rostock in the winter transfer window and has continued to get better each week.

He would net his first Scottish Premiership goal on Saturday, as Danny Rohl’s side beat Dundee United 4-2 at Ibrox to momentarily ascend to the top of the table.

Naderi would be substituted at half-time, sparking injury fears heading into the final round before the split against Falkirk.

Though, should he be fit to start, the towering 22-year-old has more than earned his spot up top heading into the season’s crunch point.

Ryan Naderi is a real livewire for Rangers

Since joining the Ibrox club at the turn of the year, Naderi has impressed for the Gers, with his involvement on the pitch not quite translating into goals.

That would end on Saturday, as he opened the scoring for Rohl’s side in a 4-2 win, his first league goal after hitting the net in the Scottish Cup.

Naderi’s senior career statistics

At just 22, the room for growth is still there, and it is clear to see that Naderi is a striker still learning his trade – though the early signs have been promising.

With a tireless work rate and non-stop energy, the German led the line perfectly in the first half of Saturday’s clash.

After recently operating alongside Youssef Chermiti up top, he was trusted as the lone striker, and this paid dividends.

Throughout the half, he would make himself a handful competing in six aerial duels, of which he won six. He would win two fouls for the Gers, while his physical attributes continued to come in handy as he completed 10 carries in total.

For the first time this season, Rangers boss Rohl has a real striker conundrum on his hands, and it is a nice question to have at this stage of the season, as his side battles for the club’s first title since 2021.

Goalscoring conundrum is a positive for Danny Rohl amid title battle

Since the season’s early days, the question of who is getting the goals has been asked each week around Ibrox.

The aforementioned Chermiti has not had the easiest of years since his arrival last summer, while Naderi had to get up to speed following his January move.

Now, though, goals are coming from all over the park as the Gers look to leapfrog league leaders Hearts.

Bojan Miovski has been amongst the goals as of late, while Mikey Moore, Thelo Aaasgaard and more continue to get better and better in a Rangers shirt.

The striker question is a positive one for Rohl, who is finally seeing his side reap the rewards of the chances created.

With the league ever so tight, goal difference is set to play a huge part, and the Govan side have done themselves two big favours in their last two matches, scoring four times in each.

And moving forward into the post-split landscape, goals are coming from all over the pitch – something that could make a title-winning difference.
