View: Scottish Premiership could be decided in space of six days as Rangers post-split fixtures revealed

Rangers could be in for a season-defining week at the start of May, with the post-split fixtures revealing seven days that could decide who wins the Scottish Premiership.

Danny Rohl’s side beat Dundee United 4-2 on Saturday, lifting them to the top of the standings for a day, before Hearts’ 2-2 draw away at Livingston.

The Gers have played their part in a huge turnaround this term, with Rohl dragging them back to the title race after a dismal start to the campaign under Russell Martin.

With just the match against Falkirk remaining before the split, the fixtures for the season’s crunch point have been announced.

And in the space of six days in early May, the winner of this year’s title could well be decided.

Rangers will target six crucial points for big league advantage

While league leaders Hearts have continued to deal with the pressure throughout the campaign, they have shown signs of faltering lately, with Rangers themselves defeating the Jambos 4-2 at Ibrox back in February.

Following the fixture reveal, Rohl’s side have found out that they will face both the leaders and arch rivals Celtic in the space of six days next month – crucially, away from home.

Heading into the final two rounds against Hibs and Falkirk, Rangers will have had the chance to make a significant impact at the top of the standings.

If points stay as they are between now and early May, the chance will be there to leapfrog Hearts with a win at Tynecastle, just days before the final Old Firm of the season on 10 May.

Those two clashes in particular could be the period that defines the season for all of the sides involved, with Celtic travelling away to Hibs just a day before Rangers’ trip to Hearts.

Heading into the split, the Govan outfit simply must keep up the momentum.

Rangers must keep pace ahead of huge post-split run

Heading into the final month of the season, Rangers must keep pace.

Before the international break, the Gers picked up a big 4-1 win against Aberdeen, which was followed up with a 4-2 win against Dundee United to further bolster goal difference at such a big point of the year.

Now, with clashes against Falkirk and Motherwell coming either side of the split, they must keep up the momentum heading into the season-defining week in May.

Rangers Scottish Premiership table

Hearts welcome Motherwell to Tynecastle on Saturday, before Rangers face Falkirk a day later.

Both sides will be looking to pick up three points before the short pause. But if the league leaders drop points, the chance is there for the Gers to climb to the top before the split.

No matter the outcome this weekend when it comes to the standings, Rohl’s side must keep up the current pace, with such a crucial run to come in just under a month.
