Everton are looking to sign Chelsea winger Tyrique George on loan in the final days of the winter transfer window.

The Toffees have set their eyes on the 19-year-old, with David Moyes confirming Jack Grealish may be out for the rest of the season.

George has previously been linked with a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but he wasn’t considered a priority at that time.

With the Manchester City loanee now sidelined, the Merseyside outfit undoubtedly should be looking to bolster their attack before the 2 February deadline.

Tyrique George can be game-changer for Everton after transfer

While the Toffees have shown interest in George, they expect to face significant competition from clubs in England and Europe for his signature, according to The Athletic.

The news outlet reports on 30 January that while Chelsea were only willing to sanction the England Under-21 international’s permanent exit last summer, they are open to a temporary move right now.

Alan Shearer was impressed by George last season, as he came on and made a difference, helping Enzo Maresca’s team come back from behind in the 2-1 win over Fulham on 20 April.

Speaking after the game on Match of the Day 2, the Premier League icon said, “[Maresca] brings young George on. 19 years old, and all of a sudden, that change changes the game. Because this finish is so instinctive. All of a sudden, George changed the game.”

The Englishman replaced Nicolas Jackson in the 78th minute of that game and equalised for Chelsea in the 83rd minute before Pedro Neto scored a stoppage-time winner.

Thierno Barry is slowly starting to shine under Moyes, but the Scottish manager could certainly do with someone like George at his disposal now that Grealish is unavailable.

Friedkin Group let David Moyes down after latest admission

Moyes has wanted a few permanent signings at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but the Toffees’ hierarchy have been reluctant to invest in January.

Grealish has joined a long list of injuries at Everton in recent months, yet The Friedkin Group don’t seem to be bothered despite the lack of squad depth at the Scottish manager’s disposal at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Speaking on 30 January during the pre-match press conference, Moyes said, “We’re out there looking. It’s not that we’re shying away from it. I would say it’s probably less than likely than likely.”

It doesn’t look like the Blues are serious about making any signings in the coming hours, which will surely leave fans a bit angry and disappointed as they hope to achieve a European-place finish in the Premier League.
