View: Tottenham fans may want to reconsider stance amid telling Tudor and Ange comparison
Tottenham Hotspur fans that are calling for Ange Postecoglou to replace Igor Tudor may need to think again.
Postecoglou was sacked by Tottenham for their underperformance in the Premier League after leading them to a 17th-placed finish in 2024-25.
Although the 60-year-old won the Europa League in his final game, Daniel Levy decided to replace him with Thomas Frank in the summer, and that move certainly didn’t pay off yet.
Tudor replaced Frank in February, and as he is now on the verge of leaving Spurs by mutual consent, several names have been touted as his replacement in N17.
With Tottenham on the brink of relegation, some fans might be desperate for Postecoglou to return, but his record in the Premier League last season doesn’t suggest he has what it takes to keep Spurs up.

Ange Postecoglou matches Igor Tudor’s recent league record at Tottenham
It wasn’t long before the Australian was back in management this campaign, but his 39-day spell with Nottingham Forest ended disastrously on 18 October.
While Tudor’s failure to win a Premier League game in five attempts is unacceptable, that doesn’t mean Postecoglou will do much better.
In the Aussie’s last five Premier League games in charge of Spurs, he lost four of them, scoring three and conceding 14 goals in that time.

Tudor has an identical record in terms of points – well, point – but only saw his side score four and concede 13 times.
It must be said that Postecoglou prioritised the Europa League, and perhaps downing tools in the top flight led to Tottenham ending their 17-year trophy drought.
But with seven games to go, Tottenham need someone who has recent success in the top flight, and the fact that the 60-year-old hasn’t won any of his last 12 league games across both spells at Spurs and Nottingham Forest is incredibly damning.

With a total win percentage of 46.5 per cent, Postecolou’s was one of the lowest in Spurs’ history, but the fact he won silverware more than clouded that.
However, his recent comments about Tottenham’s ambitions in an interview in February were scathing.
Why Tottenham will never hire Postecoglou again
In an interview with The Overlap podcast in February, the Aussie claimed that he wanted to sign Pedro Neto, Bryan Mbeumo, Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi, but wasn’t allowed to do so by the board.
He also said that Tottenham’s ‘To Dare Is To Do’ motto wasn’t something that the board stood by through their actions in the transfer market.
Although there have been several changes behind the scenes in the last 12 months, those messages certainly won’t have gone down well with the Spurs hierarchy.

His open style of football simply isn’t what Tottenham will need in a relegation battle, and while he has a positive relationship with the players, Spurs need to keep it simple for the rest of the season.
Appointing a former player who understands the club well is what is needed, and Postecoglou’s hopes of returning to Spurs now are certainly far-fetched.
Especially given his recent history in the Premier League.
