View: Tottenham gem on fire at loan club can stake first-team claim after int'l breakthrough

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Tyrese Hall has been rewarded for his outstanding form after receiving his first senior Jamaica call-up ahead of the international break.

It represented a major – and richly deserved – milestone for the talented 20-year-old midfielder, who has caught the eye on loan at Notts County in League Two.

Hall had previously been included in provisional squads for his country but never made the final cut. However, he could make his debut in an upcoming World Cup qualifying play-off.

Jamaica will look to take one step closer to booking their spot at this summer’s showpiece when they play New Caledonia in Mexico on March 26, and Hall could be involved.

With Spurs reeling from their defeat by Nottingham Forest last time out and teetering on the brink of relegation, the prodigy can stake his claim for regular minutes next season.

How has Tyrese Hall performed this season?

Hall has impressed at Notts County, making 35 appearances across all competitions and scoring eight goals, the most recent of which came against Cheltenham on Saturday.

In fact, he has now netted in two consecutive matches, having also found the target in the 4-0 thumping of Accrington Stanley on March 17, which earned him a 7.6 Sofascore rating.

How Tyrese Hall compares to senior Spurs players out on loan

His recent flurry comes despite his limited minutes this season. He has started just 16 matches in League Two to date, playing an average of just over a half of football per game.

However, Spurs will not be too concerned. He has seized opportunities when they have come his way, hinting at a very bright future indeed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Hall has proven himself as an all-action midfielder, adept at both ends of the pitch. This campaign, he has netted his eight goals from 14 shots on target, an impressive strike rate.

He has also registered 16 key passes and an overall passing accuracy of 81.6 per cent, proving he is making the right decisions in and around the opponent’s half.

Clearly, he also plays his part defensively, having made 38 tackles in total.

Spurs almost recalled Hall

According to The Sun, Spurs were tempted to recall Hall and assess him with the first-team during the January transfer window, before ultimately opting against it.

Senior figures were minded to keep a close eye on him in training, having been impressed with his performances, while a host of Championship sides were also circling.

The interest in Hall is likely to have only increased in light of his recent heroics, but the youngster will surely prioritise forcing his way into Spurs’ senior crop ahead of next season.

First, though, his big chance with Jamaica awaits.
