Wenham: Tudor was 'harsh' to axe this Tottenham star, he should be recalled vs Forest

Tottenham Hotspur have been urged to recall Kevin Danso to the starting line-up for the clash with Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Danso has emerged as a key option for Igor Tudor in the last few weeks, but he was dropped for the 3-2 Champions League win over Atletico Madrid on 18 March.

The clash with Vitor Pereira’s side on 22 March is a relegation six-pointer for Spurs, who are just one point above the relegation zone as it stands.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be in full voice, expecting their side to take all three points, and Danso could be vital to their efforts.

What has been said about Kevin Danso and Tottenham?

Tottenham expert John Wenham has called for Danso to come straight back into the team for the clash, given his impact recently.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “Moving forward, we’ve got to go with a 4-4-2, ahead of that game against Forest, with Guglielmo Vicario in goal.

“A back four of Pedro Porro on the right, who was very good against Atletico, I’d have Cristian Romero as the right-sided centre-back, I’d then bring in Danso as the left-sided centre-back with Micky van der Ven coming out at left-back.

“I just think Danso’s been fantastic, I thought he was very, very good at Anfield, and it was so harsh for him to lose his place against Atletico, I’m hoping that he lost his place because he was just being rested ahead of coming back into the line-up.

“Then a flat midfield four with Xavi Simons playing off one of the wing positions, along with Mathys Tel, who did really well against Madrid, he was constantly showing for the ball and running at the defence, and then a midfield duo, probably of Archie Grey with Pape Sarr.

“I’d go with the two up front, and the two up front at the moment would have to be Richarlison and then Randal Kolo Muani, who got an assist at Anfield and also scored with a cracking header in midweek.”

How has Danso performed under Tudor?

Danso’s performances have justified the Lilywhites’ decision to splash £21million on his services, as he has impressed recently.

He has played five times in Tudor’s reign, making a total of 3.6 clearances per game, according to data from Sofascore.

He has made 0.8 interceptions per game, 1.2 tackles per game and won 4.6 duels per game, for a success rate of 56 per cent.

The French ace has been dribbled past just 0.4 times per game, a marked improvement under the Croatian.

He deserves to start more often.
