£20m player is suddenly ‘keen’ to leave Newcastle United before the transfer deadline - journalist
It’s been a quiet January transfer window at Newcastle United so far.
Indeed, the Magpies are yet to make a signing, and while they have been linked with the likes of Kees Smit, the Tyneside club haven’t been active this month.
Eddie Howe even recently said he was very unlikely to make a signing in a press conference.
“We have the players that we have, and we have to find a solution with those players,” he said.
“There’s no point me thinking we need another type of player at this moment because it’s not going to happen.
“The next chance we’ll really have to change the squad will be the summer.
“It’s about getting the best out of the players we have. I don’t think we played badly, but certainly around the goal, we could have done better of course.”
While it’s all quiet on the incomings front, there could yet be an outgoing before the deadline as it’s now been reported that Fulham have made a move for Joe Willock.

Fulham make Joe Willock move
According to Ben Jacobs, Fulham have arrived with a late bid for Joe Willock.
The London club have apparently bid £20m for the Newcastle man, but that offer was promptly rejected by the Toon.
According to Jacobs, Willock is ‘keen’ to make the move to Craven Cottage. However, Newcastle will not sanction a deal unless a replacement is signed.
With Kees Smit linked to Newcastle, perhaps a late swoop on that front could unlock this deal and allow Fulham to sign Willock.
Who else are Fulham looking at signing?
Fulham are expected to be one of the more active teams towards the transfer deadline.
The Whites have seen multiple bids for Ricardo Pepi rejected this month as they look to add another striker to their ranks.
Oh Hyeon-Gyu has been linked as an alternative to Pepi, while there’s also, clearly, an appetite to add a midfielder.
Udinese’s Arthur Atta was on Fulham’s radar earlier this month, but this bid for Willock may well suggest that Marco Silva’s side’s stance has shifted.

Fulham often leave it late in the transfer window, and there could be another flurry of activity late in the day at Craven Cottage this time.
