3x Rangers title winner impressed by Cavenagh talks, now hopes for something 'huge'
Andrew Cavenagh has turned his reputation around at Rangers, and Brian Laudrup has revealed how he has done it.
The American businessman became the Ibrox club’s chairman when the consortium involving himself and the 49ers Enterprises group took a majority shareholding.
His reign started with the hires of Russell Martin and Kevin Thelwell, but they have since been dismissed from their roles after a disastrous start to the campaign.
Cavenagh has redeemed himself with the hire of Danny Rohl, and the ownership have not been afraid to back the German boss this month.

What did Brian Laudrup say about Rangers figure Cavenagh?
Laudrup is a Rangers legend, following his exploits in Walter Smith’s nine-in-a-row team in Govan, where he made 58 appearances and won three titles.
The Dane has revealed a private conversation with Cavenagh, which left him amazed, where the Gers chief asked for advice on how to get the Light Blues back to the top of Scottish football.
Laudrup claims it would be “huge” if Cavenagh can achieve that, and believes that the Gers are heading in the right direction after the recent changes.
Speaking to Record Sport on 21 January, he said: “He wanted to talk to a few of the older players to hear what we thought about Rangers as a club.
He was looking for some advice, in terms of taking it forward. It encourages me that Mr Cavenagh reached out to us.
“He’s a very clever guy. We spoke for half an hour on the phone and, being American, the level of understanding he had of the club impressed me.
“He’s trying to find out just how to get Rangers back to where they once were. It was a very frank discussion and I think he wants to learn as much as possible.
“He also wants to provide the new manager with the tools to take Rangers back to the top again. The signs are very encouraging for me. It looks like it’s going in the right direction.
“The question will always be, can they get over the line and actually win something? That’s huge, but I think the fans can definitely be encouraged.”
Why does it prove that Cavenagh is perfect for Rangers?
Laudrup’s admission proves that Cavenagh is the perfect man to lead the Bears, because he wants to know everything there is to know about the club.
He has shown a willingness to learn, and he is desperate to succeed, and that can only be a good thing for the Govan club.
Many had written off the ownership, including Cavenagh, after the Martin and Thelwell debacles, but they have well and truly bounced back with recent decisions.
They have owned their errors, and clearly are looking in the right places to find out what they need to do to take the club forward, from people who have been there and done it.
It remains to be seen whether Rohl can get the Gers to the top of the pyramid, but as Laudrup states, they are on the right track.
If they continue to understand the needs of the fanbase and invest in the playing squad, there is no reason why they cannot achieve the success that is expected in G51.
