49ers Enterprises takes Rangers investment to '£52m' as new plan revealed - Ex-SPFL CEO
Rangers fans will contribute towards further investment in the squad when ticket prices rise from next season.
That is according to ex-Aberdeen, Aston Villa, and Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, after Rangers announced they intend to raise £16million to invest in the squad in the form of a new share issue.
Ticket prices at Ibrox will rise by 6.5% for adults and concessions, whilst European qualification on the pitch will also boost Rangers’ finances.
Danny Rohl’s side are currently second in the Scottish Premiership table, with only top spot guaranteeing the club the chance to play in the Champions League next season.
Rangers backed Rohl in the January window, and they look set to continue supporting the German manager in the summer market.

Rangers have ‘issues to fix’ after announcing new investment
Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes it is “only fair” that the Rangers fans also play their part in helping invest money into the squad.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks investment should be made in recruitment and at the Gers’ training base.
Annual Turnover £94.1m Takeover Capital Injection £20m Closing Cash Balance £30.5m Pre-Player Trading Profit £2.7m
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think Rangers are also talking about putting season tickets up 6.5%.
“So the club decided to go for more than inflation. They’ve got some things that they’ve got to fix in terms of recruitment and with Murray Park, their training ground.
“There’s going to be some investment there. And look, they’ve [49ers Enterprises] already put, I believe, £36m in since they took over the club. So that’s another £16m.
“They’re going to get some help from the fans. And it’s only fair, as they said, that they’re going to be putting money in, in terms of the share issue, as well as increasing the prices.”
Rangers chief told what he should implement at Ibrox
Wyness also told Football Insider that Rangers should change their recruitment strategy and look to sign young players in the summer.
New Rangers chief executive, Jim Gillespie, should be ensuring that the club can make more profit on players when selling them in the future.
Rangers have been linked with signing Scottish Premiership talents David Watson, Luca Stephenson and Elijah Just this summer whilst they’re also in pursuit of 18-year-old Finn Geragusian from Sunderland.
