'Absolute madness' - Gary Neville in disbelief at what he saw in Everton loss vs Man United

Gary Neville was in awe over a refereeing decision during Everton’s 1-0 loss to Man United at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday.

Hill Dickinson Stadium was subdued into silence when Benjamin Sesko finished off a Man United counter-attack in the 72nd minute.

Everton pushed for a late equaliser, but they ultimately came up short in a game of huge significance

The result leaves the Toffees ninth in the Premier League, and their European ambitions have been dented in L4 once again in a loss that will definitely frustrate David Moyes.

During the first half, the former Man United defender was furious with referee Darren England, who failed to book Jarrad Branthwaite for a foul on Amad Diallo.

Gary Neville fumes at decision involving Jarrad Branthwaite

In the 30th minute, Branthwaite hauled down Diallo by tugging his shirt, and Neville was furious that he wasn’t given a yellow card.

Speaking for Sky Sports on commentary, he said: “It should be a booking, it’s a standard booking. He makes the challenge but pulls his shirt back.

“He panics, and I’ll never know how that’s not a yellow card. It’s absolute madness. It’s a standard yellow in every single football match.”

Thankfully, he was on the right end of this decision, and there’s no doubt that Diallo would have given him a much tougher game had the England international received a yellow card.

Branthwaite has had his fair share of injury issues over the past few years, and it’s clear that his return to the side has been beneficial.

Branthwaite has been solid since returning from injury

Moyes chose to start him over Vitalii Mykolenko to add some height to his defence, which ended up paying off.

After producing a string of impressive performances, it would have been hard to leave the 23-year-old on the bench

According to Sofascore, he won 100 per cent of his ground and aerial duels against Bournemouth, but he struggled slightly more against the Red Devils.

Although he wasn’t at his best, he clearly proved why Moyes favoured him in the full-back position.

While he may have been lucky to escape a yellow card, his overall game was solid, and he is slowly getting back to his best in a blue shirt.
