Akor Adams offers smart reaction to fan attack after Sevilla win over Atletico Madrid
Akor Adams spoke with pride and relief after helping Sevilla secure a vital 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid, just days after the club was shaken by serious fan unrest, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigerian striker, who scored from the penalty spot, said the team had used the difficult moment as motivation.
“All the energy of the club, the fans, and the players transformed into a positive atmosphere for this match. We gave 100% and achieved our objective, which was the three points,” he said as per El Sevillista.
It was a strong response from Sevilla, who had been under intense pressure following a 1-0 defeat to struggling Real Oviedo last week. That loss left the team just above the relegation zone and triggered angry scenes involving supporters.

Players were confronted at the airport on their return, with insults and abuse directed at the squad. The situation worsened at the training ground, where a group of masked fans blocked access and reportedly issued threats. Police had to step in to restore order.
In his post-match reaction, Adams smartly ignored that tense backdrop and only praised the supporters who stood by the team during the Atletico game.
“The fans' support has been incredible, it's given us a lot of energy. We play for them and if we're all like this, we'll be happy every week,” he added.
The striker also revealed the calm preparation behind his goal. “I had practiced it in training,” he said of his penalty. “I had the confidence of all my teammates. Everyone played a good game, Manu and Agoumé in midfield, Castrín at the back, and everyone else. We all achieved our goal.”

Super Eagles clash as Akor Adams makes his mark
On the pitch, Adams delivered when it mattered most in what was also a meeting of three Nigerian internationals.
He gave Sevilla the perfect start at the Ramon Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium, scoring in the 10th minute with a composed penalty. It ended a run of three games without a goal and took his league tally to eight for the season.
Atletico Madrid responded well and found an equaliser late in the first half through Javier Bonar, briefly quietening the home crowd. But Sevilla regained the lead just before the break when Nemanja Gudelj struck, lifting the mood inside the stadium.

Adams remained central to Sevilla’s attacking play, leading the line with strength and intelligence before being substituted late in stoppage time.
The match also saw a ‘Super Eagles battle' of sorts. Ademola Lookman came on for Atletico Madrid in the 71st minute, while Chidera Ejuke was named on the bench but did not feature.
With eight goals and three assists in 26 league appearances, Adams has become a key figure at a crucial stage of the season for Sevilla.
