Ange Postecoglou return could force Tottenham’s hand amid Thomas Frank sack latest

Ange Postecoglou could be set to unlock Tottenham’s next managerial appointment.

Spurs are in disarray under Thomas Frank, and a big reason for that is the form they have demonstrated at home so far this season.

After Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat at home to West Ham, they now have the fourth-worst home record in the top flight, having won just twice there all season.

That has piled the pressure on Frank, with a decision set to be made within days on his future, and Postecoglou may have a big part to play in it.

Premier League club could hire Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham aren’t the only club in an absolute mess right now, with Crystal Palace having also endured a fairly horrific downfall over the last 12 months.

Their start was marked by the departure of Michael Olise, followed by Eberechi Eze, who now looks set to be joined by both Marc Guehi and Jean-Philippe Mateta out the exit door at Selhurst Park.

After so many high-profile departures, the Eagles have fallen off massively, with Oliver Glasner now at risk of facing the sack at Crystal Palace.

Among the candidates who could replace him is Postecoglou, who is priced at 12/1 with some bookmakers to take over at Selhurst Park.

If Postecoglou were to return to the Premier League, and before the end of the season, it would allow Tottenham to move for Glasner without having to pay the compensation fee that would be required otherwise.

Who else is in running for Tottenham job?

Tottenham are due to hold a press conference on Monday, with Frank expected to take training again ahead of their clash with Borussia Dortmund.

However, officials are said to be weighing up the decision to sack him before that encounter, and if so, Frank would have very few arguments against it.

Among those who could replace him is, of course, Glasner, but also ex-Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez, who is now the favourite.

Xavi spent 143 matches in charge of the Catalan outfit before being sacked in May and replaced by Hansi Flick.

A move to Tottenham would be his first job since his departure from his boyhood club, and his first-ever experience of Premier League football.
