Report: Al Ahli ready ₦13 billion per year salary for red-hot Super Eagles striker

Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli have identified Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu as a top transfer priority for the upcoming summer window, Soccernet.ng reports.

Onuachu has enjoyed a sensational campaign with Trabzonspor this season, effectively taking the Turkish Süper Lig by storm.

He has been the driving force behind Trabzonspor's climb to third place, contributing a remarkable 18 goals and two assists in just 21 league appearances.

The Nigerian international is once again looking like the clinical, cold-blooded goal poacher that dominated the Belgian Jupiler Pro League during his time at Genk.

These clinical performances have naturally caught the eye of several foreign clubs, but a new report suggests that Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli are prepared to pay a premium to secure his services.

According to Turkish outlet NTV Spor, Al Ahli are considering offering Onuachu a staggering annual salary of €8 million (approximately ₦13 billion).

This would represent the most significant payday of his career, effectively quadrupling his current earnings at Trabzonspor.

The former Saudi champions are bracing for the potential departure of star striker Ivan Toney and believe Onuachu would be an ideal, and far more cost-effective, replacement to lead their line.

Why Paul Onuachu is Likely to Leave Trabzonspor For Al Ahli

The primary driver behind a potential move is the financial incentive. As previously noted, Onuachu has never commanded a salary of this magnitude, even during his stint with Southampton in the English Premier League.

For a player who turns 32 in just two months, the opportunity to sign a life-changing contract is often a top priority as retirement approaches.

Furthermore, the transfer fee is unlikely to be a stumbling block. Trabzonspor are expected to demand a fee in the region of €10 million—a figure that is well within Al Ahli's financial reach.

While Onuachu has found a home in Turkey, the combination of a record-breaking salary and the chance to join the ambitious Saudi Pro League may prove too enticing to turn down.

It remains to be seen whether the striker will prioritize his loyalty to Trabzonspor or make the lucrative switch to the Middle East this summer.
