Arsenal 3-0 Fulham: Viktor Gyokeres scores twice as Gunners go six clear at top
Arsenal have moved six points clear at the summit of the Premier League after stepping up a gear against Fulham.
The Gunners have laboured since the March international break, exiting two cup competitions and allowing Manchester City to close the gap on them in the race for the title.
But Mikel Arteta’s side were much-improved against the Cottagers on Saturday night, easing to victory and easing nerves that have been building up around the Emirates at an alarming right.
Viktor Gyokeres opened the scoring for his side after nine minutes, tapping home after excellent work from Bukayo Saka.
The Gunners took the lead at the same stage against Newcastle United at home last week but failed to put the opposition to the sword. Tonight was a different story.
After Riccardo Calafiori had one ruled out for offside, Saka scored after 40 minutes, finding the bottom corner after more good work from Gyokeres.
The Sweden international had his second and 21st of the season in added time at the end of the first period, heading home Leandro Trossard’s cross.

With his side in control, Arteta was able to rest players with a Champions League semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid to come on Tuesday.
Saka was replaced at the break with Gyokeres and Declan Rice also coming off in the second-half.
Myles Lewis-Skelly was handed a vert rare start in midfield with Martin Zubimendi on the bench, impressing in that role.
City can close the gap back to three points when they take on Everton Monday night.
But Arsenal now have a better goal difference and have scored one more than Pep Guardiola’s side – factors that could end up deciding the title if it goes all the way to the final day.
