Arsenal ‘favourites’ to sign German striker and transfer talks well underway
Arsenal have placed Nicolo Tresoldi on their summer transfer wishlist and are the frontrunners to sign the Club Brugge striker this summer, according to reports in Germany.
Tresoldi is enjoying an eye-catching debut season with Club Brugge having joined from German second-tier outfit Hannover 96 in a £6million deal last summer.
The 21-year-old has rapidly established himself as one of the most exciting young talents in Belgian football with an impressive return of 13 goals and two assists in 30 league appearances for Club Brugge.
But just months after arriving in the Belgian Pro League, there is mounting speculation that Tresoldi could be poached by one of Europe’s elite teams, with the youngster’s performances not going unnoticed overseas.
According to German newspaper Bild, clubs across the continent are beginning to show a ‘great interest’ and Premier League leaders Arsenal are among those to have placed the centre-forward ‘on their shortlist’.
Bild’s Head of Football, Christian Falk, provided a little more detail with his followers on X, claiming the Gunners have established themselves as the ‘favourites’ to wrap up a deal for Tresoldi and discussions are well underway.
He adds that Arsenal are ‘seriously interested’ in bringing the Germany Under-21 international to the Emirates as they look to further bolster their frontline for next season.

It comes after the club moved to strengthen their attacking options with the addition of Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke for a combined fee of around £165m last summer.
Tresoldi, who was born in Italy to an Italian father and an Argentinian mother, is tied into a contract with Club Brugge until June 2029.
In addition to the rumours and gossip surrounding his club future, there is also some uncertainty over Tresoldi’s next steps in the international arena.
Tresoldi is known to be in the thoughts of Julian Nagelsmann as the potential focal point of Germany’s attack down the line. However, Bild write that the Argentinian Football Association have contacted the player’s inner circle to gauge whether he would be open to switching allegiance.
At a press conference in November, Nagelsmann hinted that Tresoldi could be in with a shot of being included in Germany’s squad for this year’s World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
‘There are many players in the mix who could make the squad,’ the Germany head coach told reporters.
‘That could include Assan Ouedraogo, that could include Lennart Karl, that could include Nicolo Tresoldi.’
AC Milan have been credited with a strong interest in Tresoldi in the past and just last month, the young forward talked up a possible switch to the San Siro.
‘It wouldn’t be bad to score a goal with the Milan shirt from a Rafael Leao assist,’ he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
‘I’ve met him once at San Siro. I’m a Milan fan, and I really enjoyed it. It was nice and unexpected.
‘Milan is a dream that pushes me to work every day.
‘I’m really happy here at Club Brugge, but I know I have a long way ahead of me.
‘The dream of playing for Milan is inside my head, and I think about it every morning when I wake up.’
