Arsenal handed boost in race to sign Newcastle star, move elsewhere looks unlikely - Sources
Sandro Tonali is more likely to join Manchester City or Arsenal than return to Serie A due to the price tag that Newcastle United are set to demand for his services.
Tonali could leave Newcastle soon, as talk around a potential summer exit ramps up following rumours around his future in the January window.
He has continued to shine for the Magpies throughout this season despite their struggles under Eddie Howe, with European qualification looking uncertain ahead of the final seven games of the campaign.
Man City and Arsenal could each move to sign him this summer, and as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, he is unlikely to join an Italian club due to the high fee involved in any deal.
Howe will not want Tonali to be a part of Newcastle’s transfer plans, but they may be forced to sell if they fail to clinch a place in Europe for next season.

Serie A clubs will be priced out of moving for Sandro Tonali
According to talkSPORT, Tonali would prefer a return to his homeland over joining a different Premier League side if he does leave St James’ Park.
His former club AC Milan have been linked, alongside Juventus, but City will fancy their chances of striking a deal given the big fee that will likely be involved in any transfer away from Newcastle.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Manchester City are admirers. Arsenal have been highlighted with an interest in Tonali as well.
Appearances 25 Minutes 2045 Assists 2 Successful passes per 90 46.7 Chances created per 90 1.14 Duels won % 53.9% Fouls won per 90 1.54
“There’s been lots of suggestions that the player would be interested in a move back to his native Italy, but it just seems any deal would be highly unlikely due to the price tag that would be involved in signing Tonali.”
Monaco considering Lamine Camara sale amid Newcastle scouting mission
Newcastle are reportedly scouting Monaco star Camara ahead of the summer as a potential replacement for Tonali or Bruno Guimaraes.
The 22-year-old has been a hugely important player for Sebastien Pocognoli’s side so far this term, having started 16 league games as part of his club’s bid to secure a place in the Champions League once again.
Sources have exclusively told Football Insider that Monaco will consider offers for Camara this summer as they look to continue their successful model of developing young players and letting them go for big fees.
Newcastle’s interest is not thought to be advanced at this stage, but they may well make a move for Camara if Tonali leaves for pastures new.
