Aston Villa fans all say same thing about Lamine Yamal as Barcelona transfer news breaks
Aston Villa are gearing up for the January transfer window after an excellent start to the season.
The Villans are flying high in the Premier League table in third place, and they have even established themselves as outside contenders to fight for the title in the second half of the season.
New contracts have been the order of the day at Villa Park in recent weeks, and there could be more new deals on the horizon in the coming weeks, after Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Villa are planning talks with Youri Tielemans over a possible extension.
Unai Emery and Co. have enjoyed a bright few months after a disappointing start to the season, and they will be desperately hoping that they can keep hold of their most important players in January.

Aston Villa plans make Lamine Yamal joke amid Pau Torres interest
Aston Villa’s PSR situation is causing issues for them again ahead of January, as their work in the market is likely to be hugely limited by their financial constraints.
As a result, keeping hold of their key men is a major priority for the second city outfit, to ensure that they can sustain their push for Champions League football into the final months of the season.
The likes of Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins and Emi Martinez all received plenty of interest from other clubs in the summer, and now it is Pau Torres’ turn to attract prying glances from elsewhere.
Barcelona are now interested in signing the centre-back, according to Spanish journalist Moises Llorens.
That news has been met in a light-hearted way by Villa fans, with several taking to X to share their discontent at the link.
Several supporters jokingly replied to the initial post breaking the news by suggesting that Emery’s side are interested in a deal for teenage prodigy Lamine Yamal.
One fan even joked that a deal for Torres could be discussed if Barcelona were willing to part with Yamal plus £100million.
- @Twistz_AVFC: “And I’m pretty sure Villa are interested Yamal. But neither will happen.”
- @1874Jacob: “With what money?”
- @KarlBridges: “They don’t have the money.”
Torres is a key part of eye-catching Villans defensive stat
Aston Villa have been excellent defensively so far this season, and Torres has been a major part of their efforts to keep opponents at bay.
The Spaniard has started 12 of the 16 league games so far in 2025-26, and has been part of three clean sheets during those games.
Team Goals Conceded 1 Arsenal 10 2 Chelsea 15 3 Crystal Palace 15 4 Manchester City 16 5 Aston Villa 17
Emery’s men boast the Premier League’s fifth-best defence at the moment, having shipped just 17 goals so far this term.
Torres’ partnership with Ezri Konsa has been at the heart of that, and as a result, they simply cannot afford to lose him in January.
It would also likely take a huge offer for Villa to even entertain a deal with Barcelona, given their limitations in regards to securing a potential replacement.
