Tottenham fell to a 2-1 defeat against West Ham on Saturday.

Thomas Frank is nearing the sack at Tottenham as results and performances continue to anger the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium faithful.

The recent Spurs defeat against Aston Villa in the FA Cup was one thing, but defeat against a side in the relegation zone is something else.

Pedro Porro was at fault for Crysencio Summerville’s opener before Guglielmo Vicario had a shocker for Callum Wilson’s winner, summing up everything bad about the Lilywhites defensively right now.

It was a debut to forget for Tottenham’s January signing, Conor Gallagher and even with Cristian Romero’s goal, it’s another bad day for Frank and could be his last in North London.

There was excitement surrounding Gallagher’s move from Atletico Madrid to Tottenham, despite him not being exactly what Spurs need right now.

The Englishman has plenty of tenacity, but the N17 club are in need of someone who can progress play and help the attacking players to thrive.

That isn’t the 25-year-old’s best asset, and he showed that against the Hammers with just nine of his 40 attempted passes reaching the final third.

A failure to complete a single cross or take a shot on target sums up his frustrations in attacking areas.

That wasn’t necessarily balanced out by his defensive work as Gallagher was dribbled past once, gave away two fouls and lost seven duels on the day.

The winter signing could go on to be a big player for the Irons, but certainly needs to settle into life back in the Premier League.

Mathys Tel shining light for Tottenham

Frank just isn’t helping himself at Tottenham right now.

Mathys Tel may not have scored or assisted, but he was one of the only players in white looking to make things happen in North London.

The 20-year-old was constantly looking to get on the ball, but was hooked on 62 minutes, with the decision met with boos from supporters.

They were right to vent frustrations towards the Danish head coach, considering the Frenchman had racked up three shots and created two chances while on the pitch.

Tel also had 10 touches in the West Ham box and looked to keep things ticking, maintaining a 78 per cent pass accuracy while on the pitch.

Seven duel wins are also a plus point to his game, raising further questions of why he was taken off with half an hour still to play.
