Bailey Rice is approaching the end of his contract with Rangers.

Rice was signed from Motherwell in June 2022 for an undisclosed fee, but he has struggled to kick on and cement a place in the first-team.

They claimed that Aston Villa, Sunderland, West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City have all checked on his availability ahead of a summer move.

It also credits Manchester City and Brighton with interest from his Motherwell days, so they could reignite that interest.

How much does Rice earn at Rangers?

Rice is understood to earn around £3,000-per-week at the moment, and he would likely want a pay increase to stay put.

James Tavernier is reportedly the Gers’ highest earner, with a £30,000-per-week wage packet, which is 10 times more than what the former Steelmen star earns.

There is little chance of him getting anywhere near that if he extends with the Govan outfit, as he is not a key member of the squad.

What has Danny Rohl said about the situation?

Danny Rohl has suggested that the club will not make a decision on Rice’s future until he returns from injury.

The youngster is currently out with a knee issue that required surgery that he picked up in training in November.

Rohl said: “I think it’s now at the stage where he must first come back after the big injury. He is working hard in this case.

“Then we make a decision from our side.”

Given the reports that Rice has already rejected a contract extension and his lack of game time, surely the right move for all parties is to move on.
